On those electronic drum kits, I just cant seem to get into it... lol
Im waiting for a devo song to come out of a midi sequencer
just sitting behind one. Im not a drummer, but I love smashing the
crap out of real drums, real skins. The rubber pads dont feel right at
all to me...
My Alesis electronic drums have real drum heads...
The more you spend the less bad it is but it's never quite the same.
That said I think we've got the best of both worlds here. We can write and rehearse with everything recorded into Cubase and also do the proper thing in a studio.
I've changed the band into a 4 piece one guitar thing and finding I need to work harder. So what I can do is have a practice, record it then mix it down to an MP3 in minutes. I then put the file into my Boss eBand thing and play over it and try to come up with better guitar bits. It means that as busy people you can do better work in far less time.
Maybe I have not tried these, last trip to US I did try each electronic kit that
Guitar Center had in stock at the time, and none of them felt quite right.
So basically with todays technology Sesh, you can totally play with yourself !
Absolutely and if you sit on your hands for 5 minutes before you start it feels like someone else...
LOL, someone told me a room temperature piece of raw steak is like that !
These "other" tips may come in handy in a few months time too !

it's still just a duo atm. we had a good rehearsal last saturday, we'll have another on friday.
then our first gig is saturday night! so i'll let y'all know how it went on sunday... however there's this other band playing a gig this weekend which i suspect more people will want to read about..

well ladies and gentlemen, tonight is the band's first hometown show in 8 years. kickoff in 2 hours, gonna be lots of people, the butterflies are jangling away in the background. wish us well, i'll fill you in in about 7 hours!!!

fantastic night. about 150 of our closest friends came and danced and partied the night away. the band was in fine form, onstage sound was crappy boomy bottom endy but apparently sounded great out front. if i may indulge; i was on fire all night. nailed everything. the standouts were a ripping rendition of 'sweet child o mine' and my original song 'hey darlin'. hey, we're a pub band specializing in aussie classics, but we're not above a 20 minute jam on roadhouse blues. not a single chick was sitting down, but plenty of blokes were. just watchin. what's that 'danceability' thing, and the guitar sound that's chick friendly again Dave? we appear to have that.

Hey, here's a funny story. Tonight we played a 21st in a huge warehouse. The kid's parents obv had loads of cash, they hired a huge light rig and operator for us.
The kid and all his mates are huge gamers, so that was the theme. It felt like playing comicon!! Plenty of hot chicks done up Lara croft style etc. one older bloke came as tiger woods, he brought an odyssey putter as a prop. At the end of the night I found it near the stage and took it over to him. He says ' do you play golf?' I says 'yeah. Love it.' He says, 'you can have the putter. I've got dozens of them'.!!
Wow! Got paid well, and scored an as new white hot 2 ball putter... God I love the music biz
