He was good. My hubby plays guitar - professionally trained, so he's usually pretty critical. I defer to him, and he said he was good. Of course, my hubby thinks he could do better
They're called Completely Unchained. Not to be confused with Unchained, which is another one, but not on LI. Make sure to notice the lead singer's nipple ring - that should give you some giggles!

OMG - I saw those guys too - just awful!! I went to see them once after Completely Unchained played spammy for the first time. They were so horrible, I went back to the ones playing a couple of spammy tunes!

There is a Van Halen tribute band in the LA area called Atomic Punks... they have been around for at least 20 years, and I know for sure Michael Anthony has sat in with them a couple times, plus I heard that Eddie joined them for a couple songs at a show few years ago

yea - I've seen them on YouTube - they've also been discussed around here somewhere. I think they had an amazing singer who sounded like Dave but who just left the band recently. Unless I'm confusing them with someone else.

I think Dave used 1 or 2 of their members on his solo tours as well... they have had a couple of line up changes through the years

It was the Steal Panther singer and guitar player. They were killer.

Now that's a great tribute - I could close my eyes with a slight buzz and probably forget that it's not Dave. Aren't they out west somewhere?

I've seen a lot of VH tribute bands on YouTube and it only reinforces how very hard it is to replicate the magic of The Diamond One ---- they all seem like cheap copies to me ---- it takes more than a ripped physique and blond hair to deliver that unique brand of authentic fury!

I just looked at the Links and it doesn't look like there will be any real-time updates there either. In any event let's hope for another great show.

Fake Dave looks like someone you'd see on WWE Raw.... Drummer looks like he should be in a Cheap Trick tribute band.

Ralph, the singer, and Russ, the guitar player, are the two best at doin' Dave and Ed. They still do some VH songs in their Steel Panther shows. Don't even bother to look up any of the Punks' current videos - the new singer sucks.

I agree - still a fun night out drinking and dancing to my favorite music. I think that's why it was harder for me to get into it this time - having seen the real deal last month, it's hard to have to settle for nipple ring. But beer helped!

Those are the Steel Panther dudes. I believe they are still around with a new Dave and Eddie. West coast mostly.. This singer here did a tour with L.A. Guns in the late 90's. My band Midline opened for the show in Boise.
