A Few Thoughts

Here are the facts in no specific order, but facts nonetheless:

1. VH sold more with Dave than Sammy...ask yourself why...

2. VH is a band name, but VH became an attitude and a spirit very quickly...so those who do NOT understand "VH is not VH without DLR" please read it in this light

3. There is a different musical feel to VH with DLR and VH after DLR...this is not imagination it is fact

4. Ed progressed as a guitar player throughout the DLR years, but after them he never broke out of what he had done before...

5. EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE could not wait to get a VH album back in the day to see what new shit Ed had come up with...today no one cares what Ed does on the guitar...sad, sad, sad...

6. Ed was featured on guitar magazines regularly for new shit, but after DLR he was left out many times...because there was no new shit...

7. Ed always got best guitar player with DLR, after DLR he lost to guys like Mick Mars...

8. DLR proved forever he had the swagger and spirit we call VH when he released "Eat em' and Smile"...he also proved there were some strong up and coming guitar talent that ED should be aware of...Ed didn't take notice he hit the bottle harder...

9. Ed lives in competition and jealousy to this day with DLR...he hates the fact that DLR pushed the band and led the band to its heights...no one in their right mind can dispute the fact that VH had its success in LARGE part to DLR...

10. DLR is the greatest frontman in the history of rock-n-roll...period

11. DLR sounds better today on the microphone than he did years ago...those who say DLR can't sing either 1. do not like his voice (that is ok, it is YOUR opinion) or 2. really have it out for him...but he sounds like Dave and can reproduce the songs fine...

12. VH is not selling out shows and are NOT in demand...this tour is a flop no matter how you turn it from a financial and promotional bent...people are running wild trying to make sure the crowds are "somewhat" there...

13. If you don't like DLR then this is not your site...

14. Sammy is NOT even close to the same league as DLR as a frontman, showman, or rockstar...

15. AND Bush will probably be re-elceted...

Great post, except...BUSH will lose because the country is sick of Dick Cheney and Colin Powell selling Iraqi blood and American troops' blood to line their own pockets.

Other than that, I agree with your great post! (We don't need to talk about politics now, do we?)

I was walking through our town centre earlier and people from a paintball arena were trying to sell people tickets for paintballing that include equiptment hire etc. and they said that one of the things you can do is nominate a friend to be dressed up as Osama, put them in the middle of the field and blast the hell outta him/her!! Would have to say it's an equal split between Dave and Eddie in terms of responsibility for classic Van Halen's success. Am no sheep, but can't deny Ed the credit he deserves for making the 6-pack lineup legendary.

I think it may be more Daves responsibilty for Van Halen being a Huge success. This is pretty clear because as soon as Dave left, the band went downhill drastically. If they were huge because of Ed, they would have stayed as good as they were. But they didn't. People liked them because they had a singer with balls, style and a great voice. They got a guy in pajamas in and look what happened...
