I really am at a loss for words.
ok i figured it out!!! but here's my first listen lyrics. Anything wrong?
You often wonder
You wanna know
How deep does a rabbit hole go?
I know, you never thought about it but
Ask yourself later
When you turn on your stereo does it return the favour?
I gotta know
That’s the trouble with never
Sure seems like a mighty long time
That’s the trouble with never
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Hello!
Every Einstein’s a sign
A tweedledumb and tweedledumber
Ain’t no fool could see
Never even wonder
Yeah, we could come together
I will call for you, hey
Heaven’s good for me
How’s never sound to you?
1800-tell me babe
Chorus
Level with me baby, talk to me
This could damage your reputation
My wicked, wicked ways
But maybe that’s just as well
Since you put it that way
Delusions of eloquence
You never can say
You wanna play, the game?
You can’t quit when you can’t play
Mistakes make people, isn’t that what people say?
Let’s not plan the moment
Dance the night away
Selective amnesia is only a heartbeat away
Ask him a question
Concerning time
Suppose you wait forever and then you
Change your mind
Chorus
When was it? When was it? Tax me baby!
When baby?
When was the last time?
Tell me!
(Now that Ed solo Alex drums just like Humans being!!)
This is so great.....the next twelve days are gonna fuckin DRAG!!
Anyone who says that VH sorely misses MA's harmonies really needs to give this one a listen - very eclectic tune. Kick ass!
HA! Nice reference to Fred Sanford, there. The thing that's impressed me most is how different every song has been - eclectic is the best description I can come up with.
So far, it definitely sounds like they went far beyond the musical limits of anything they did with the original 6 pack yet it still maintains that undeniable VH sound.
I haven't been this stoked to hear a new album since I was a teenager.
All, I am going to remove this link from here...
THE Roth Army is not going to jeopardize our relationship with Diamond Dave Enterprises by linking to illegally downloaded Van Halen songs....
I hope you can understand that.....
So please, do not link to that site on here again....
You want to go to there on your own, go right ahead.....
Thanks....

I've got to wonder if Interscope realizes they are missing some significant revenue at the moment by making Blood & Fire and The Trouble with Never available in the UK only..?
Maybe it's a nice gesture to the folks over there who've been VH starved for years... but then you've got the rest of the VH fan world going crazy... using proxies, etc to buy it somewhat illegally. Plus add to that the fools at vhradio who have the songs up unprotected from piracy and illegal downloads.
I look at all that and all I can say... bad move guys & gals... Release this stuff globally at the same time and watch your bank accounts fill up to their maximum potential.
You've created buzz and momentum... now put your business hats back on.
I was thinking the same thing. In the age of black lights and 8 tracks this strategy made sense. Now things have to be released globally - or else. Interscope seems to have dropped the ball on this one. 90 second sneak previews of tunes is one thing - but making the entire track available only to certain markets just begs to be ripped off. Oh well, guess Dave can't be everywhere at once telling every record label suit and intern how to do their job...
My karma just ran over your dogma.
I thought that yesterday, was going to say something, but knew the mods here would do the right thing.
Same reason I am not listening to the full versions of these two newly dropped songs.
I can wait to sent the money where it should be..This is also why I never purchased the six pak after Dave left. I figured the money wasn't going in his pocket. I will however if they reissue the 6pak buy the fucking shit out of it.
I have no real issue with dowload sharing it just isn't where I go with available merch.
Ethics are wierd and must be figured first in business..why I will never be a succsess..lol.

If it's out there and I can listen to it without breaking the law then I am going to do it. BUT I will be at the store to buy the new album the day it comes out, no matter what. I love Van Halen and I want them to have my money in exchange for the work they have done and the shows I see. I feel like they have earned every penny of it. I want to see them succeed in conquering the world AGAIN.

Hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla boobuhla hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla bop
I do hear a little Hendrix. Fire or Crosstown Traffic sorta thing as it starts off with the Guitar, Bass and drums grooving together.
Still trying to wrap my muppet brain around why they chose Tattoo over The Trouble With Never as the first single? This so is so Van Halen it makes me want to throw a block party and invite all the neighbors that I normally can't stand on a marching band parade to the liquor store.
this song just plain kicks ass

my fave song today.
The thing I love about Dave's lyrics are that every time you listen to them you find another 'oh yeah... now I get it' moment.
After reading the NY Times review in the 3/28 MSG thread it got me thinking... do you think Dave took a shot at the brothers with the line “Every Einstein’s assigned a Tweedle-Dumb and Tweedle-Dumber...”?
Fucking awesome!
I thought the same thing when I heard that line. Not sure Dave would be so obvious with that reference, but then again, he did get away with "Can't Get This Stuff No More," which seems blatantly obvious. One interesting thing I came across concerning 'The Trouble With Never' lyrics was this reference in Dave's book. In the chapter WARS AND REMEMBERANCE, page 235 of the hardcover version, we get this:
"I said, "Okay, since there's so many breaks in time, so many times when there's no answered phone calls, I'll make another video, I'll wait until everybody does arrive back in Hollywood, to make the new album." And I started to create 'Just A Gigolo.' Came time to release the video and I ran into a routine that a lot of drinkers practice. I call it "selective amnesia." Selective amnesia is where you select what you're going to forget. So here's Ed, crying at his baby grand piano in his little studio, 5150: "But you didn't tell me that you were going to release 'California Girls."
"Well, yeah, I did, Ed. Why else would I spend that much money and recruit that much stellar talent?"
"Yeah, but I don't remember..." This is on the heels of easily a half a dozen private projects of his own.
I did not want to be guilty of any kind of subterfuge. I was always the protector of that band, so I made sure - goddamn sure - that everybody knew. And I also knew that memories were short when diluted, so I had repeated my plan, again and again. Nevertheless, when I released 'California Girls/Just a Gigolo' on New Year's of 1985, the cry was, "Oh, my God, we didn't know about it. We don't remember you telling us about this."
All of this transpired in an interim. A MAJOR interim. But I figured, sooner or later this circus was going to reconvene.
you just never know...

Ok my first tune from VH off this album that makes it into the inner sanctum.
Because of this:

Can't Control your Future. Can't Control your Friends. The women start to hike their skirts up. I didn't have a clue. That is when I kinda learned how to smile a lot. One Two Three Fouir fun ter thehr fuur.

All they want is Jimmy baby, love it when he rolls his eyes.
Dave has made a career out of rolling his eyes, so to speak. You understand, Angel???
