I agree. Listened to about 30 seconds and then turned it off.
Something terrible has occurred to me. Unless I stomp on my I-Touch or plant my head through my home computer monitor, I'm going to end up seeing this entire show before the 28th. I've got zero will power to avoid watching these clips.

It's two separate things, though.
The album is killer, and I agree 110% it is the best I would have hoped for. I like it more every time I listen to it, and without Dave they'd never have pulled something like this off. But I just don't see singing some of those tunes wearing a headset as looking right. Maybe it is 'cos Dave has lost some mobility and he's not gonna be jumping around and doing the high kicks, so he's gonna kinda shimmy around and he needs a headset ...
And the way it all looks matters. If you're Justin Timberlake, or Madonna, you might wear a headset 'cos it's the only way you can do your show, or whatever - Dave always looked great with a mic stand. The Henson show looked great, and the Wha? kicked ass because it was pure no frills rock'n'roll. I'd like to see 'em do more of that, even if Dave dresses like Casey Jones every night.
Folks, the headset may not be a permanent thing.

Not crazy about the headset but I can live with it. I guess it's this tour's gimmick for Dave - like the top-hats and Liberace jackets last time. He likes to mix things up a bit, which is cool. Just seeing him without the mic-stand after all these seasons is a bit disarming. As I plan on being blotto for the show, I'm sure it will make little difference come game day.

I think some people need to take off the 1980 glasses. These dudes are almost 60 yrs old now. I sure don't see Ed running around from one side of the stage to another sliding on his knees. I don't see him leaping over MA like he use to as well. He does one flying Eddie in a whole show and people go wild, but he still is not the same as he was in his youth. Dave on the other hand, was a wild man on stage as we all know. Jumping off Al's drum riser and all the leaping kicks and other things. Now, he just can't do that type of shit anymore, so he has to reinvent himself, and do what he can do to be part of the live show. Could he do all that with a mic , sure he already has on 2 occasions recently and i have no doubt that the headset maybe just a trial thing. We should all be happy these guys can still bring it live, even if it is a much more toned down version of how they use to do it in their early prime. In a few yrs we could be getting the live shows that resemble the unplugged stuff they just released on dvd, with them all just sitting there playing in a circle. Be happy and stay frosty.
