The cool thing is we will have plenty of cool VH vids on you tube to sift through. I can handle that.
Well if that's the case, then I'm gonna bring a big-ass Canon SLR camera with a zoom lens.
I am just hoping they add Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Spokane, and maybe Boise. I saw Reno in 08, That was a killer show.
It's funny watching the youtube videos of the Cafe Wha?, Henson and LA Forum warmup shows, where there are different videos from at least a half dozen angles.
The only downside is some of the people shooting the videos felt compelled to sing along with the band, like, real loud, so the audio bleed of the crowd singing (badly) drowns out the band vocals at times.
Scramby eggs and bacon.
Brett had some real nice videos at the Forum show, but the idiot to our left drowned the audio out in a lot of it.....
Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth
That fucking asshole.
Funny a week earlier in the same situation basically, none of the crowd singing was picked up. It was mostly that shithead next to us that fucked up my audio at the Forum. He finally got tired later in the show and didn't know the new songs at all (gee big fan), so those songs are better.

Me too. I am currently in between LA & San Diego. But i am seriously considering moving up to southern Oregon very soon. I don't want to have to drive 8 hours to Oakland.......but I will of course.
If a road trip is needed Sniper, be sure we hook up & caravan. Ford could probably use some Army company as well.
i'm too high up in the stands to bother shooting, so i am counting on everyone else to make good videos.
Writing In All Proper Case Takes Extra Time, Is Confusing To Read, And Is Completely Pointless.
Just don't use a cell phone or an smartphone to record a video, because it will always sound like shit.
It's still quite fucking surreal, honestly Ragu....
But in reference to the videos, just be smart about it....
I know the band's "it's cool to take video" statement is quite vague, but of course that can mean different things to different people.... And yeah, that includes the venue's security.....
Don't try to bring in any fancy equipment, and I think you'll be fine....
I think I'll try to be Neil Zlozower for a day and buy a Pentax before the show.
I'm not against people recording video or audios during a concert, but most of the time they sound/look poorly. Fan photos turn out a lot better.
Listen to you guys!! Its a Van Halen show! Not a Peter gabriel concert.
I can't wait for someone to tell me to be quiet at the next show because they are "recording".
I live in a fairly popular tourist city and you wouldn't believe the license people (visitors and locals alike) think they have because they are toting a camera with them...ushering you away from whatever you are looking at.
Thankfully my "contributions" to Jeff's and Brett's fantastic videos are limited to when VH is not actually playing, so I know what you mean, but lets not take this too far
Roth Army Canada
as much as i want to bring my camcorder is just seems like it will be a pain in the ass to carry around...i want enjoy every note not worry about where i stand or put it down or what the people next to me are doing
You know what, fuck it! I'll just enjoy the show and not worry about if my $200+ camera gets smashed.
Lookie at what came in the mail today !!
Just kidding, the dude from KATG took a pic of it.....
Notice it says "World Tour"!!! Hmmm....
"Please don't yell...Can you sit down please?...Can you hold the camera while I get a beer?" ...where does it end?? lol
Haha, the kids beside me in '07 were all excited to be sitting beside "one of those Roth fans". They'd high five me every time I let out a whoop. I think they had sore hands by the end of the night. There was a guy taping in the row in front of us, I've had numerous people comment that they can hear me throughout Hot For Teacher.
"Ya know what they say about angels... An angel is a supernatural being or spirit, usually humanoid in form, found in various religions and mythologies. Plus Roth fan boards..."- ZahZoo April 2013
I'm glad we have permission, but I was going to anyway.
When the shit hits the fan, close your mouth and duck.
My tix say no cameras and all of that bullshit...
I wonder how they make it look like he's really playing this time...
Smoke and mirrors
I'm looking forward to the 'Wolf isn't really ________ ' conversations coming up. Wolf is the real deal and he killed it in Louisville.
Not sure why no one has posted the VHND link to this article:
http://www.vhnd.com/2012/02/16/van-h...ideo-at-shows/
David Lee Roth has just informed VHND.com that the band is “totally okay with” fans shooting photos or video at the shows during their 2012 tour, which kicks off this Saturday, Feb. 18th, in Louisville, KY. So knock yourselves out and take all the pictures and videos you want! Just keep in mind that we are talking cell phones or small cameras only. Professional cameras or video equipment wouldn’t be allowed into venues. (Of course, this might not be quite as easy as it sounds…venue security people might not all be on the same page. For example, at the Van Halen rehearsal held at the Forum last week, outdoor security were adamant that no cameras are allowed, but security inside had no problem with people filming or shooting).
So just be cautious...pro style equipment and video cameras may not be allowed (saw some folks here talking about handycams and zoom lens). OR, just leave them at home and Roth Out old school style.
