Kristy's Top 3 Modern Psychedelic Garage Guitar Solos - OF ALL TIME! (I'm bored)

#3 'She's Wicked' - The Fuzztones (Guitarist Elan Portnoy)

I was a big fan of Rudi's early days before all the acid he took rotted his brain. When he did have some cerebral frontal lobe function he took, blues, 60's garage, late 50's rockabilly, voodoo, mojo and pussy and wrapped it all up in a brillaint 1984 release Lysergic Emanations. 'She's Wicked' borrows s a line from Howlin' Wolf (notice how I said, "borrowed' all you homoerotic Jimmy Page worshipers?) "I asked her for some water and she brought me gasoline." Elan Portnoy plays a straight-forward solo off a Rickenbacker that gives me chills. I love this song. Wish it was about me - inspirational at the very least.

#2 'Fire & Brimstone' - The Nomads (Guitarist Hans Oslund)

Hard to believe these guys are from Sweden when they sound like they are from the darkest suburbs of Wisconsin. Fire & Brimstone is Link Wray done with more apocalyptic fire power. Love the riff, love the feedback, love the way it makes me want to go out and punch a old prog rocking Alan Parsons Project fan right in the face.

    #1 'I Like Girls' - Plan 9 (Guitarist Unknown)

Dealing With The Dead' must be the lost treasure of the dwindling psychedelic garage 80's; something like 9 guitars players in one band, it took me forever to find a copy myself. 'I Like Girls' is one of those psychedelic garage songs where everything works: the tremelo, the reverb, the Hammond B3, white dudes singing about white women in descriptive non-cliches. "I like girls who use their mirrors, I like girls with built-in radar, I liek girls with al sorts of contraband, I like girls with dangerous curves."

"This is rock and roll " says one YouTube comment. God damn right it is. Solo starts in @1:35; all the pussy Jimmy Page follow suit soon afterwards. I've never heard a Gibson SG sound as bad ass.

Perhaps you should try listening to the Cranberries.

Close. A more subtle variation was...

Did you have to, did you have to pull my finger?
