I don't believe the last three were. Not sure if any of these three will "specialists" or not. I can ask Ramona (she trains them). I do know they train dogs for this and Golden Retrievers are really in-tune with humans anyway, so it would be a good match. Thanks very much showing some interest!
      You guys are the best!

These three golden retriever pups are in training to be service dogs. The company I now work for, Chattanooga Goodwill Industries has a program where we train these dogs to be assistance dogs for people with disabilites and we give them to people who need them for FREE! As of a year or so ago, I believe we were the only organization in America to give these dogs away free of charge. They learn how to turn on and off lights, open and close doors, retrieve things from the fridge, the list goes on and on. They make a huge difference in the lives of those who are wheelchair bound. One of our recent graduates went to a 13 year old girl who lives life in a wheelchair. It brings tears to my eyes to know that what I do at work every day contributes to this person having such a wonderful companion to help her through life. This program really means a lot to me and I hope you guys don't mind me sharing this with you. If you'd like to learn more about the program, you can go to Goodwillchatt.org or look up the Chattanooga Goodwill Assistance Dog Academy on Facebook.
        Thanks for letting me share/brag.

Here is a video from a fundraiser last fall. These are the first 3 graduates of our program and Jerry, our spokesdog. Their names are Hamilton, Brandy, and Eddie. The music is a little sappy.....makes me get choked up every time I watch this thing.
Hope this video works....I've never posted a vid here before.

So I got a bed sheet and trapped him against a fence. Put him in a large rubbermaid tote. Next day called all the local shelters/rescues but they all would have put him down. So I let him live in my garage. I'd go every single day to the pet store & buy a live mouse. Then I'd set it free in the garage and the owl would swoop down & munch on him. yummy! He also ate live grub worms like candy. When I could corner him, he would let me hold him without clawing or biting. All the neighborhood kids got to pet him too.

He would stay up on the garage door railings and once he was flying pretty well I took him to set him free. I found a great place out a ways where they grow sod. Big open fields with probably a lot of mice to eat. Not sure if his wing ever healed 100%, but I like to think that the 3 months he recovered in my garage at least gave him a fighting chance out there. Better chance than had I done nothing.

was sad to let him go. Such a cute lil thing and can't believe how docile he was to hold. I mean really, how many people can say they actually held or touched an owl? That's why I wanted all the kids around to get the chance to meet him. He was a burrowing owl. They live in the ground like gophers.

He would fly into the little office room in the garage & land on the tv or couch. The mice he would eat on top of the pool table.

here we go, starting at #64. and i thanked an elvis post (#280) which didn't have hate, only pessimism.

This was one of the best threads. Not because I started it, but because so many people played along & contributed to it. Thanks to everyone that has shared so far. post more!

Here is my Daffney a few years back with a stuffed purple bunny. (Thats Evander sneaking in towards the end. No chance she was gonna share her new toy)

Doing a walk on a riverside, I made friends with this beautiful Black Labrador called Nero, he was a great company, and how well he managed to climb and walk over the rocks.
