Elephant meat would not last long in a hot climate. In north America hunting season is in the fall so you have the advantage of having cold weather. As soon as your animal is down you have to gut it out. Leaving the guts in spoils the meat because they start to rot and that goes into the meat. If you bust the bladder you have ruined the meat. There are also glands you have to cut off. A lot to know or your deer is going to taste like shit. I can't imagine gutting an elephant out and processing it in the hot African sun. Imagine the flies. It would take a team of people to process it and they would have to have a lot of salt on hand to do it. I think it's bullshit as well.
