Any love for Kim Carnes & the Bangles?

Mistaken Identity is still one of the best pop albums ever, to me.
And the Bangles album 'Everything' is badass.

    Your opinions ?

    PS: Michael Steele rules.

    Bangles were okay.

i have a "demo" version of Manic Monday with Appolonia singing. Prince originally wrote it for her. it's the same instrumental track that Hoffs ended up singing over.

Doesn't sound like the same instrumental track to me (unless you have a different version than this.....)

Alright now. Hoffs was hot as fuck, but damn, I would have banged em all. Ok, ok, I was 12 when they split up, but I've had some cool masturbation moments. The first Bangles album I bought was "Everything". I saw them on the MTV awards 1989, they played "Be With You". I loved it. I think it was the same night I saw Living Colour for the first time as well, playing Cult Of Personality, and a cool Johnny B Goode cover. I'm almost 34 now, and I lost 98% of my brain cells, thanks to booze & other substances. My memory could not be as good as I think.
Anyway, "Everything" remains my favorite album by the gals.

I've downloaded a Kim Carnes live album (NY Savoy, 1981) and although I was disappointed that "Don't Call It Love" wasn't played, it's a great show. Rod Stewart with boobs. The Bangles are the Beatles with boobs.

I have the Prince demo as well. He had a crush on Hoffs, apparently.
Hoffs did play in Ming Tea, she also sang "The Look Of Love" on the soundtrack just because she's with Jay Roach.

Met Hoffs in '97 and she was still gorgeous - first thing she says after the introduction "My husband's name is Jay, too!" (and I thought to myself "Yes, that bastard!!" ). Recent pictures I 've seen of her confirm she's still hot.

"Rod Stewart with boobs"...yup. That'd be Kim Carnes.

Not too sure about The Bangles being in the same league as The Beatles, or close enough to even make silly comparisons...[Bangles] songs weren't THAT fucking good...

It is kinda funny that half the Bangles big hits were cover versions. Prince.... Simon & Garfunkel....Big Star.....etc.

Walk Like An Egyptian was theirs, I guess. And that sappy ass ballad "Eternal Flame"

3 of the original 4 Bangles reformed in 2011. This was the result:

    It was shit.

Why am I talking like Jack Webb all of the sudden?

I know, Terry. I was just trying to be funny. I missed, as always. The girls wanted to be the Beatles. But then again, I wanted to be DLR when I was a kid.

Ford, Walk Like An Egyptian was their producer's hit. Still to this day, ask one of the Bangles about that song and you'll get something like "We had to pay our bills". Eternal Flame sucks ass. I hate Hoffs for this piece of shit.
And I've heard one song from the new album. Well.... It ain't the Bangles without Michael Steele.

I saw the Bangles at a free show on Santa Monica Pier last summer. They looked great and sounded great too. But they played my favorite song first ("Hazy Shade of Winter") so it was all downhill from there.

Hazy Shade is a great cover tune. They should've put it on the Everything album. Fits like a glove that I'd make Hoffs smell.
