    From Metal Sludge...

    http://www.metalsludge.tv/home/index...2801&Itemid=42

Operation Knifecrime? Geoff Tate is alleged to have attacked his band mates in Brazil with a knife!

A recent article was published out of Brazil HERE that alleges a incident that took place with band members Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton and Scott Rockenfield. The article goes on to say, that Tate pulled a knife on his band members before their set. We at Metal Sludge cannot confirm this, but there have been related posts regarding "the incident".

A translation from Portugese to English is noted here.
Something very strange happened in the recent passage of Queensr˙che for our country. The band played in Sao Paulo, HSBC Brazil, last April 14. Before the show, Geoff Tate, lead singer of the group, caught other members plotting his removal on the set.

By the time Tate retired and was silent, but during the soundcheck, he violently assaulted guitarist Michael Wilton, knocking down the musician. Then Tate armed with a knife broke up drummer Scott Rockenfield, but was restrained by security guards of the house, who, along with the crew and some Brazilians who watched the soundcheck, witnessed the whole shack.

Dissatisfied with what happened, Wilton locked himself in the dressing room saying he would no longer play, but was convinced by the production of the event to do the show.

This was also reported on Metal Talk. It has also been blogged on Rock Pages. We say, where there is smoke, there's fire. Summon the lead singers, we're guessing QR is headed for a heartbreak.

Now this past weekend at M3, a Sludge insider was on hand, and back stage. His report about Queensryche is as follows.

There seems to be some truth to that Queenryche thing. They put on a very stiff, cold performance at M3 this past weekend. Wilton looked less than happy to be there, and there was zero interaction between any of the band members. Tate seemed disgruntled when the reaction from the crowd for the first 2 songs was less than enthusiastic. ( a new one, and a song off Promised Land). The end of the show was what I found interesting- Tate left the stage before the end of the last song and did not return. He made motions to the crowd and almost insinuated that he was saying goodbye. The band did a bow without Tate and left. Like I said, a totally flat and emotionless show.

    Queensryche is...
    Geoff Tate
    Michael Wilton
    Eddie Jackson
    Scott Rockenfield
    Parker Lundgren

    Shades of Judas Priest......

Whip and Eddie are flying to AZ this weekend to sit in with a QR tribute band......lol

There's a lot of tension in that band over the direction Tate has led them musically.

That, and Parker is dating Tate's daughter.

Any videos of the show yet? Will be interesting to see the dynamics of the guys on stage.

And no Geoff Tate = No Queensryche.

If it was anything like the CD Release party at the Hard Rock...there wasn't any.

They need to call up Chris D, and go back to what made them who they are....

But yes, no GT, no QR

IMO, they haven't been the same since Degarmo left...totally agree they should get him back ASAP - and no GT no QR.

With the exception of MAYBE Mindcrime 2,
I've been in this vicious circle of buying/downloading
Queensryche music and being disappointed since
the CD after Promised Land, the name of which
escapes me and I don't wish to waste the energy Googling.

Well, that is how they started actually. In fact when that first EP arrived in Hell, I thought it WAS Maiden. But then they moved in the prog-rock direction and started doing concept albums and really didn't fit any definition of "metal" anymore.

Here is their entire set in HD:

Set List - Thanks Triryche777 for the set list with times!
    Intro 00:00 | Get Started 01:34 | Damaged 05:10 | I Don't Believe In Love 09:30 | Hit The Black 14:05 | I'm American 17:52 | NM 156 20:58 | Screaming In Digital 24:40 | The Lady Wore Black 29:25 | Walk In The Shadows 34:50 | Silent Lucidity 39:07 | Jet City Woman 45:37 | Empire 50:58 | Eyes Of A Stranger 56:34

If they broke up, it would not bother me at all. Geoff Tate is the most boring front man in rock. I have posted about this before. I did not bother to see them when they played Nashville in November, as the previous tour when they played here it was appallingly bad. Though it was neat to see them play Rage For Order live in it's entirety, it could not make up for how lame the performance was by Tate. Rest of the band was ok....but no longer spectacular for me.

Just watched BTM:Styx. Cannot help to draw comparisons
here. Styx had a two, three album period where they tore it up.
Parted ways with their "frontman", seem to be enjoying
life playing barns with REO and the like.

QR could find a Tate sound-alike and hook up with other
80's bands on one of these multi bills playing outdoor
venues. They can play the shit out of everything from the
EP to Empire and have no problem coming up with an
    awesome setlist.

They opened for Priest in Toronto around 2005 and it sucked ass! The band came out and started playing, Tate strolls out to cheers and then proceeds to stand motionless on stage singing. Then as the song winds down he walks slowly off the stage. Band goes into the next song...Tate strolls out and stands motionless and sings. Repeat for entire set.

    Boring as hell!!!

I was there. Totally lame. Seen them twice opening for Metallica in '89 and opening for Ozzy in '87 (Rage tour). I couldn't stop laughing at their
douchey costumes. Very ghey look. The only thing that saved the Mindcrime shows was the on screen visuals. Tate is the worst frontman in Rock/Metal...

Funny thing is some reviewers rip on Dave about how he can't sing perfect. But just look how much of a great frontman he is. Tate sings perfect and is fucking lame. Which would you rather have? Which would the fans rather have? People go to shows to have fun. Geoff tate is not fun.

Sorry to see Tate self-destruct....had some unique features.....the notes can be replaced but the tone will not be...

    RIP QR.

Won a radio contest to see them and Whitesnake in Seattle. Great Gig as afterwords got to see "The Tempest" at the Rep Theater also.

    RIP QR.

Wow I haven't seen Geoff Tate in years, the bald magician look was a bit startling to me. He is playing a solo show at club called The Canyon in LA area on June 7th. Maybe he already split with QR.

Last summer in NYC had to choose between QR or a Pink Floyd Cover band and opted for the latter after watching a few youtubes of their shows...never regretted it...

4 kids and his wife is their manager.

He does seem to suffer from PMS though.

The last time I saw them 6 years ago he acted like a total huffy pissy dick to the audience from the start for no understandable reason. This after I had spent 5 hours travelling to the gig.

I think his problem is that he doesn't like heavy rock music and that they completely peaked 20 years ago and in every way have been inferior ever since.

Compare this performance to what they have become.

Apparently the last album was a sack of shit. I never got past the second song which was about someone addicted to wireless internet hotspots...

Wow! At least with drugs you had the kind of romantic artist thing going on - addicted to internet hotpsots. Far out. Fellas on another planet.

    Rock n Roll....

    QUEENSRYCHE
    "Hot Spot Junkie"
    (Jackson/Tate)

The wifi wave, I'm addicted to the wifi wave.
An indispensable satellite tool I abuse. I abuse.
The world wide web and all the pictures on YouTube, there's no escaping it.
Keeps on crawling under my skin.

Can't look away from the screen, might miss what's happening.
I'm busy surfing for some other kind of fantasy.

My mind's a river flowing don't know which way to run.
I'm wound up tight I'm like a hot spot junkie with a down loaded gun.
This Wifi frenzy world revolutionary cyber world.

Ready get some air time, air wave time.
You got it under your skin?

The world wide web has the local news on YouTube.
The connectivity is crossing the threshold, crossing the threshold.
Encrypted codes and filters but there's no time to rest.
A revolutionary modern world in distress.

Just like a fire glowing, don't know how much will burn.
A WiFi knuckle hot spot junkie.

Tate deserves to be stabbed with a knife in the head for that line.

Sesh, you hit the nail with this clip.
This band used to mean a whole lot to me.
Lemme share this. It's May '91.
Been dating the future Mrs Whorehey for almost
a month. She's holding out on the whoopie.
Caught a bad case of Mono from staying up
all night kissing with her. Anyhoo, got 2 tix for QR
Empire tour. Taking future Mrs Whorehey to said concert.
Next morning I'm going fishing in MN for a
week. Tell myself all week I'm gonna ditch this chick
if she don't turn it up a notch when I get back.
Twenty years and two kids later...
This should be a VH story, but I don't acknowledge
    1986-2006, know what I'm saying?

DISCLAIMER: I used to like this band. A lot. Former fan club member, did meet and greets, had front row seats for shows, ect.

Parker is married to Geoff Tate's step-daughter Miranda Tate.

There SHOULD be tension over the direction he has led them in. To say that the last album was a sack of shit is an insult to sacks of shit. To me, "Hotspot Junkie" makes "How Many Say I" sound like "Black Dog". To hear a once great band play while Tate's stupid ass warbles "Yooouuuu Tuuuube..." is one of the most sickening and yet most tragically hilarious things I have ever heard. Somebody SHOULD have thrown his ass out of the band the moment he first thought of it.

The biggest problem I see in this band is that Geoff Tate is in charge, too many people have told him how great he is, he believes every word of it, he fucks the manager and therefore nobody will exert any veto power over any of his moronic ideas. Their last several albums have been for the most part pretty weak with a good track here and there, but have for the most part they played well live and did the song the fans wanted to hear. They lost me when they started doing fucking cabaret shows (for FUCK'S sake), and then when they released this fuckfest of trouble and misery disguised as music they have pretty much stuck the fork in my ass all the way to the hilt.

I watched the first few songs of the M3 set and was blown away by how fucking bad these assholes were. I turned it off halfway through and went to get drunk with my friends. My parting thought was "Does GT know that they only have an hour up on stage?" and if so why were they absosfuckinglutely wasting it with these atrocious songs such as "(Don't) Get Started" and "(My Career Is) Damaged"?

If Geoff Tate or anyone else wants to see the reality of how the people who used to be his fans view the album "Dedicated To Colonics", or if you just want a few good laughs:

There's a line between doing what you want with your art and jumping off a cliff. Queensryche's recent work has seen them hurdle over that line.....

I like the very beginning of it. But that song is when I stopped listening to Queensryche pretty much.
