Just listened to the new disc...
It's fucking great... nothing more to say.
IMO, Joe would be an awesome choice to open for VH.

Always loved VH's version of Walk Away. Wasn't 'til recently that I found out their treatment was based on the live James Gang version. All this time I thought it was their idea to kick it up 10 notches.

Huge Joe fan. Looking forward to listening to this, although I'm disappointed that he's not coming to Philly on his current tour (and ticket prices are pretty high).
Rolling Stone has the full album up:

Joe is at this moment taping "Joe Walsh & Friends" for CMT.
Friend of mine has been given the distinctive honor of being guitar tech to the one and only Billy Gibbons, who actually loaned him one of his Pearly Gates model Les Pauls last night.
Another friend of mine is directing the video shoot.
I say it is about time Joe got his due......he has had a long and storied career, and he deserves any accolades he gets....
I still have recordings of when he was on KLOS radio in L.A. back in 1991....telling hilarious stories about him and Bassplayer Rick back in the day.
I met Bassplayer Rick once back in the 90s. Cool dude.

This is a solid disc... start to finish.
IMO, everything after "But Seriously, Folks" has been hit and miss... one or two standout tracks and then a bunch of goofy filler.
Hope people give this disc a chance.

I think "There Goes The Neighborhood" is a very good album, almost on par with "But Seriously, Folks." I also like "You Bought it You Name It" even though that one definitely had some filler. But the strongest of tracks on that one--notably "Shadows"--still make it a worthy listen. Plus I think that one had more goofy Joe humor than any album he ever made.
First impressions are that this is a very good album as well. It's not breaking ground, and much of it feels like I've heard it before e.g. ("Funk 50" obviously, but also "Spanish Dancer" which feels like a re-work of "Rivers of the Hidden Funk"), but it still works. Hell, AC/DC made a career out of one song. I think I read that Joe deliberately wanted this to sound like his late '70s/early '80s stuff and in that sense, he succeeds. It's short, as is the case with most Joe albums, but there are no bad songs. And he hasn't lost his sense of humor in the least bit. The album is comfort food, but it's comfort food done very well.
So far I'd say "Band Played On" is my favorite track, followed by the title track and "India."

I maintain that The James Gang, Atlantic City 8/19/06 was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Amazing show.
Here are a couple more gems in his catalog that have gotten buried. Two of his darker songs for sure. "County Fair" might be my favorite Joe song of all time.

Very cool post of "Yer Album" ThrillsNSpills. My pops had that album....still does. That introduced me to the James Gang....I remember hearing him play it when I was a kid and I discovered it when I was 13 or so. Good stuff......and yes, I need to purchase his new album pronto.....Judging from just the one video of Analog Man.....it already sounds like some of his best work of late.

How'd the job search go today ??
still got it
This is all of But Seriously Folks. Dean DeLeo of STP said in an interview how he copped the beginning of Indian Summer for one of their tunes on Shangri-La called Days of the Week.
Picked it up today...very nice.

Just picked this up and listened to it with my Pops......not a good CD....a great CD.
my joe walsh story...
i met the dude when he was judging a guitar comp. i had to play a song in C but i was much more comfortable with C#.
so i tuned my axe (a jem77rb) to Eb and killed it. won the comp.
i didn't know part of the winning celebration was to go back out on stage with joe and play 'rocky mountain way' with joe and the band, in E.
so i fumbled around the power chords on the 6th and 8th frets, got there in the end.
later, super later, as i'm downing bourbons with joe, i related the above story.
he looked at me with a glint in his eye, and said... 'son, you're way too clever for your own good.'
that's my joe walsh story. i love the man. a legend any way you look at it, and i can attest; one of the coolest humans you'll ever meet.

I think Denis Leary said it best when he said, "Hey, Don Henley- I got two words for you. JOE FUCKING WALSH!"
