Sure would... I like how that one has none more black hardware, too. A Red D-Tuna would be the push over the cliff. Here's the link...Originally posted by conmee

Got my Xmas present from the SM the other week.
20 years ago she bought me a second hand custom guitar I found second hand in a shop for $600 which was a lot for us in those days but an amazing bargain.
The guy that built in in 1988 is a bit of a legend in Scotland, Jimmy Moon who these days mainly does acoustic instruments. He's made guitars for Big Country, Texas, Simple Minds, Adele, Ally McErlaine (Texas & Red Sky July), Bryan Adams, Dougie MacLean, Guy Berryman (Coldplay), Paolo Nutini, Trevor Rabin, Steve Earle, Peter Rowan and the Scissor Sisters.
Apparently someone had traded it in against an Ibanez JEM. It didn't really suit me with it being single coil but it had the best neck I had ever played on. I tried putting a DiMarzio Super Distortion dual blade but it lacked something and when I went back to gigging and recording a few years back it didn't cut it plus the flat purple paint job was not great.
We took it back to the maker just after Xmas to be stripped, went for a tobacco sunburst, a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom in the bridge and move the Dimarzio to the neck. Everyone involved was a bit worried about how it would turn out , it's a maple straight through neck with a mahogany body but I think it's worked beautifully.
It has a Kahler trem which never goes out of tune and Sperzel tuners. I'm in love again, this guitar is amazing to play.
There is always a downside and with this it's that it's now been valued at 8 times what I paid for it which is great but now I don't know if I can use it at gigs. Secondly it's making all my other guitars feel like shit.
The only thing is that I've just realized after all these years that I'm missing fine tuning pegs at the bridge. I never even noticed as the beauty of this set up is you don't have to fuck around with locking nuts any time you need to tune. Google says 6 x $6 which is daylight fucking robbery for little screws but I guess I will. The other tiny niggle is that the trem is a little short and again the internet tells me that Kahler are non standard diameter?Last edited by Seshmeister; 04-22-2015, 11:06 PM.Comment

Congrats on the refurb, nice job. Why not just get the parts from Kahler directly?Originally posted by conmee

Thanks I'll go through that website and see if they still sell them.
Funny that I picked up a pretty decent guitar a couple of weeks ago online for a good bit less than the cost of one of these trem systems...

Worked on Dan from Atreyu's ESP a couple of times over the past weeks... New 32mm FU-Tone Brass Big Block, but then it turned out his bridge saddles were hammered, so we had to order new ones. No sense installing the Ti string-block inserts in worn saddles, would have been kinda pointless. It's all dialed now and he's quite happy with it.

Are you referring to the string block inserts vs the regulars, or the Big-Blocks? The string block inserts are the same size, just nearly indestructible. The Titanium Big Blocks come in the same sizes as the Brass & Copper ones: 32, 37, & 42mm generally. Haven't heard if FU's going to offer the 60mm ones for the Les Paul FR's he's made for Slash and Alex Lifeson in Ti or not... probably too pricey, but you never know.Originally posted by conmee

Added a 2015 Les Paul Standard to the family yesterday. Camera´s fucked so I did a short smartphone vid.
Big online store here was blowing out only that colour for 1555 Euros. Either they´ve really taken care of their QC issues at Gibson or I got lucky but I can´t find anything to complain about yet.Comment

It's #guitar body prototype approval day...and oh yes, I approve! The #KnE OFR/ @evhgear D-tuna recess rout is a reality! #guitarbuilding #guitarsofinstagram A photo posted by Jay Hale (@jhale667) on Nov 13, 2015 at 2:07pm PST
Decided to do another guitar with the recessed D-Tuna, so like I did with the OFR rout, worked with the guy at KnE to make it a standard rout option. Got two prototype bodies in the mail the other day (necks are on the way). One and 2-piece Ash bodies, respectively. Keeping the 1-piece.
