When Eddie said his dad told him if you make a mistake, do it twice & smile so people think you meant to do it that way.
Maybe he used this philosophy since he hired 2 replacement singers? Or hired Sammy twice?

“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”
When Ed says "taking Dave in small doses", there's always a bit of truth to a flippant comment.
Why doesn't he say, "Dave IS the singer for this band, now and for the future"
For the Conspiracy Theorists: Maybe the BIG deal next year is Spammy and Dave showcase
both era's on tour so that for some unknown reason, the crowd can be forced to hear "Right Now my Poundcake is Mine All Mine"
with guest appearances by Emeril Lagasse yelling "bam" into the microphone, as Dave jerks-off gallons of Tequila into the front row.
By the way, I thought it was Angus Young who was the key guy in AC/DC
LOL. I've always loved Malcolm. Dude is a monster in the background. But honestly I don't think Eddie & Angus like each other much. There have been the little backhanded comments from Angus over the years I think stemming all the way back to some European show they played together at. You can find some on Youtube. Eddie has dropped a few backhands too. "only 3 notes"? hahaha!
But yeah, AC/DC is super simplified rock music. But it sure kicks ass. Sometimes all you need is 3 notes to melt a face. Why use 10 when 3 will suffice?
I agree with all of you saying not to blow Eddie's comments out of proportion, and I'm trying my hardest not to. I did, however, cringe about the singer comment, and also about the possibility that my show in NJ won't get rescheduled. As far as the superbowl, I wouldn't mind these guys getting the attention they deserve, as long as they don't cave too much and lose themselves in the process. Would hate to see a VH GaGa mash-up!
Stay Frosty!
THE DAY IS DONZO LET'S HAVE SOME FUNZO!!
It's just too easy for us here to not fully trust Eddies motives. Yes he is doing everything right the last 5 years. Doesn't mean we trust him with the keys to the safe yet. No matter how much you domesticate a pit bull you still don't ever trust them 100% with the baby.

Van Halen emerges as first source of Super Bowl halftime speculation
Posted by Mike Florio on June 13, 2012, 9:29 AM EDT
The NFL could be poised to continue its recent habit of hiring aging rock/pop stars to provide the entertainment during the extended intermission at the Super Bowl.
Other than the glorified karaoke entourage known as the Black Eyed Peas in early 2011, the post-wardrobe malfunction halftime shows have featured acts who have been alive for all of the past Super Bowls, and then some.
Thanks to a reader who actually read all of a new article regarding an upcoming Van Halen reunion tour, band founder Eddie Van Halen has dropped what could be a hint that the group will be in New Orleans in early February for something other than the Jambalaya.
“[I]n November, we’ll hit Japan, and in the new year, we’ll possibly do something special, but I can’t talk about it,” Van Halen tells Marco R. della Cava of USA Today.
I’ve yet to come up with all the “special” things a rock group can do that would require extreme discretion (although in some states that list could be longer than in others), but playing at the Super Bowl would be at or near the top.
The good news is that the hiring of Van Halen’s 21-year-old son, Wolfgang, as the bass player drives the average age of the band down, a bit. The bad news is that David Lee Roth is still the lead singer.
And in honor of certain current events in the NFL, perhaps they can debut a modified version of one of their former lead singer’s hits: I Can’t Drive 55 . . . Sober.
Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth
[QUOTE=chi-town324;1662476]wonder what the payday is for the SB ?[/QUOTeRob THE WHO said you don't get paid you make in sales of itunes and what ever else. Shit i heard Petty's sales spiked
200 % after the show. So who would'nt what do it.If sir Paul will do it. Bruce, Madonna, Prince, VH is a lock.. Panama,Dtna, yrgm, jump is networks set. My set would be Jump, Panama, atbl, sgad.
I wasn't trying to slam pitbulls. But I just would never leave any dog alone with a baby. Always that part in the back of your mind of "what if". What if the baby pokes the dog in the eye and the dog snaps back out of instinct? No need to tell me how loving your pups are. I know. Had 2 big bruisers myself that wouldn't hurt a fly. (a 3 legged overweight blind cottontail bunny hopping through the yard? Absolutely, just not a fly)
Basically I truly believe if Eddie thought he could get away with the fans by having another singer that he would. I love him, but I don't trust him. I base that solely and totally off of past performance. I throw my faith in to him and enjoy these last 5 years to the fullest. Not letting my distrust ruin anything. But if the day comes where Dave is "kicked out" I won't be overly shocked. I don't think any of us will. Disappointed, sad, angry, homicidal, suicidal to be sure....just not shocked.
Anyone wanna snort some bath salts & eat face?
Obviously there's been a new "Van Halen at the Super Bowl" rumor every goddamned year since 1996, but now more than ever it actually seems plausible.
One thing is for certain... after 2 consecutive lip-syncing cheesefests (Black Eyed Autotuners and Madonna) there's going to be some demand for some actual musicians in the Super Bowl halftime again. They spoiled us with that streak the previous decade... McCartney, U2, The Stones, Tom Petty, The Boss, Prince, etc. (don't remember the exact order there... the memory ain't what it used to be after 45,000 years). Granted that Daltrey/Townsend show was a huge bummer (I refuse to call that travesty "The Who") but that's no reason to stop inviting rock bands altogether. Van Halen would be a great way to restore some credibility to the halftime show.
Which is probably why it won't happen.
Speak it brother!!! That right there is the hard truth. And everybody can deny it if they want to...but IF the day ever comes that Dave is no longer in the band you'll see Ed giving interviews about how his newest version of the band is the best that there ever was, the one and only true Van Halen.
Do they even pick SB acts this far in advance?
What other big events are coming up? No Olympics, no World's Cup
Maybe they are going to kick DLR out of the band in favor of Wolfie's GF who is kinda, sorta almost like a VH.
Maybe Eddies gonna replace StevenTyler as a judge on American Idol? Joking...I'm hoping for another studio/live recording. Possibly cuts from the last session and best of tour tracks. WOOO HOOOO!!!
Well, there was an Olympics rumor a while back, when the news came out that Alex's son Aric was competing in Olympic trials. I haven't followed the story, so I'm not sure whether or not Aric is going to be in London or not. But if he was, and the family was going to be there to cheer him on, then why the Hell not perform there while they're at it?
Of course that rumor snowballed into a whole thing about playing summer festivals in Europe, and all of those are probably booked well in advance anyway. And you know what they say about snowballs chances where I come from.
Angus is very much a key guy in the band, but Malcolm is the leader and brains behind AC/DC.What he says goes, bar none.
Malcolm's rhythm playing is often underrated, I thought it was awesome that Eddie spotlighted him over Angus.Mal has created a great deal of the major riffs we all know/remember, he's called the riff master for a reason, lol. (Eddie didn't start the term)
As to EVH not liking Angus, back in the 80's (Monsters of Rock '84) a few of his comments sort of took away from Eddie, but back then they were competitors, recently Angus spoke rather positively of Ed, saying he was an innovator like Hendrix, and that he changed the game when came along.(Which we all know was very true)
Not even close, and this is why I don't take EVH seriously or read into anything he says. The postponed or "cancelled" dates as he called them are below. There are exactly TWO repeat cities, Uncasville, CT and Philadelphia. There are only three others that are repeat markets--East Rutherford, Baltimore and Detroit and I'm being generous with Baltimore. All the others are at best markets that have a little overlap with places they played the last four months but hardly serving identical populations."a lot of the canceled dates were in cities we already played"

That's why I have ZERO tolerance for any snide remarks from Eddie Van Traitor ---- people are too willing to give him a pass these days on his highly offensive remarks regarding Dave.
How would people react if Dave gave an interview to USA Today and said ---- "Yeah I wish I had a couple kids in my 20's because now they'd be old enough to be the guitar player and drummer in Van Halen" ??
People would fucking lose their minds ---- they'd be calling him the biggest asshole in rock 'n roll. They'd burn down his house.
The best compliment Eddie can muster these days about Dave is ---- "Yeah he's funny and witty but I can only tolerate him in small doses". I bet you tolerate those millions of dollars he helped you earn in the last 35 years, you ungrateful fuck !!
You don't have to blow it out of proportion ---- but at least recognize that it was a very offensive statement in a national publication towards Diamond Lee.
I'd like to see Dave give an interview to USA Today or Equire Magazine and say ---- " If I had a couple kids in my younger years, right now they would be the guitarist and drummer in Van Halen. "
How would people react to that? Would they give him a pass and a giggle like they do with Eddie? I bet they'd hunt Dave down like an animal and put bullets in his brain and feed his carcass to the vultures.
Eddie just never learned how to respect people who helped him become famous and wealthy. He can brag about Wolfgang all he wants ---- but dont bullshit the fans by thinking we'll accept whatever he wants for his band.
Yeah. That Eddie is a schemer. Best to keep a close eye on him.
I sincerely think you need to get a hold of yourself. He made a few remarks in jest. Big fucking deal. If Dave continues with VH, it'll be great. If they have a parting of the ways after this tour and Dave does something else, it'll be great. Let go of the teenaged anger. Doing you zero good.
You're an Eddie Apologist --- plain and simple.
Unlike you, I'm not OK with giving Eddie a free pass every time he says something offensive or stupid. You can only tolerate a guy's bullshit for so long before you call him out on it. Back in the 80's, we easily accepted Ed's delusions about "Dave left because he wanted to be a huge movie star" or "He would throw tantrums if anyone else had blond hair onstage". Then we found out the REAL TRUTH later and it made him look foolish and egomaniacal.
So here we are in 2012 and Eddie makes a flippant comment about he and Valerie shoulda had another kid who could easily replace Dave. Eddie feels good about himself that his kid easily replaced Mike Anthony so why not extrapolate to Dave as well, eh? I've had enough of the " EVH REALITY DISTORTION FIELD" (tip o' the hat to Steve Jobs).
I have no problem going to a VH show and watch Eddie the guitarist do his thing onstage. But I am definitely not comfortable with Eddie the human being being his usual douchey self and getting away with it.
Ed can say whatever he would like..but personally I would love just one straight comment along the lines of 'This is how it should be (with Dave);" or "This is the best since how long,or "This is what the fans have wanted and we are glad"..etc etc whatever...
I do think that the comment "Dave is Dave, etc" is meant for what it is-it can be positive or not so positive ...It is sort of a blanket statement. Dave is Dave but there is nothing else to say about him????But a positive add on just once would be nice too.
Would have been nice for even Wolf to throw in 'Dave's a great funny guy" or "we have alot of fun on stage" or something.
