Great bass players can play in the pocket but take it out into the rhythmic area. Most my favorite bass players were originally guitarists that got stuck playing the bass or just went there because they liked it. You have to have the rhythm and the funk. For me that came pretty natural and I have no idea why. I don't know, bass to me is more like real fucking while playing the guitar is more like wanking. Bass is like you are slapping some nice ass and guitar is like you are wanking furiously. LOL!

Check out any vids on this tour of Wolfy playing Romeo Delight. Try to find a good clip where you can hear his bass well. He is playing some extremely complex shit on that song. Way moreso than what Mikey used to play back in the day.....
