What's da fucks the best cassette to CD/MP3 file coversion out there????

I've got a bunch of old cassette recordings of WBCN and was looking to burn them to CD. Keep in mind that they are pretty shitty (80s), and were not recorded on the best of equipment, or for that matter on the best of tapes. What's the best stuff out there for this? I see they have small recorders with programs, but I think I need a step up for that. Figured somebody here would know.....

Well I don't know if it's the best but I believe Audacity will get the job done for you.

There's a free windows audio recorder that will record any windows audio including YouTube and you can convert it to any file type you like at any sampling rate...

It also has a CD burn section and a wav editor...

Look for free windows audio recorder...or I'll locate it later for ya...

      Gotta run...

i used Total Recorder when we were recording Dave's radio show. i didn't like the freeware options at the time and the program turned out to be well worth the $18 i paid for it.

total recorder, audio recorder, video recorder, editor, converter, grabber, phone recording, capture sound, streaming audio, streaming video, scheduler, screen capture, internet television, audio mixer, audio restoration, speech enhancement

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I converted about twenty hours of BCN recordings to digital. And had a studio producer clean them up....

I'll agree with twonabomber here - I always used TotalRecorder, and found it easier to use than any other free or paid-for program that I tried for copying tapes, minidiscs, and recording direct from analog radio broadcasts.

Don't know how well it works with newish operating systems, though ...

There's a newer version for Win7. I tried to install my older version on my main machine and it wouldn't work.

They've got a video recorder now too, that includes all the functionality of the audio recorder as well. May have to drop the $54 on it.
