Can we put Gretchen Carlson and Elizabeth Hasslebeck on that island too? Both are utterly annoying. Oh, and Sada, did you mean Michelle Malkin, or Rachel Maddow? I'd vote Malkin...(but yeah I'd hit it once before I left)

In regards to the new GW VH issue, it turns out it is pretty good. Eddie has high praise of Dave when talking about the recording of the album. They were talking about the lyrics and Eddie said "Some of his lyrics are hilarious. Dave's good. He's a very well-read person, and it shows in his lyrics. I don't know of anybody else who can write lyrics that are so out there, yet in. Some of the stuff is blatant, but a lot of it makes you think. It's tripped-out and deep, but not so deep that you can't relate to it. I think he's brilliant." Eddie also said that he thought Dave's vocals on the album were great. He also says "It felt like a comfortable old pair of shoes. Working with Dave again was like we had never left each other. It was that comfortable. We've known each other since high school. When you have old friends, five or six years can go by when you don't see each other, but you just pick up where you left off." He also says they plan on making another record after a short break. Great interview.
That Eddie quote is the shit!! Dave is so deep and yet so simple that is what is so fucking good about him he brings us all together under HIS flag, OUR flag! Which is so ironic 'cause he's such a self-confessed loner. The greatest joke in rock history!?
Ha!
Actually it was honestly the first thing that came to mind...although the massive gang-bang bash/"Roth smackdown thread #1,127" was of some interest (I must be getting old, since I had trouble figuring out what the reason behind it all was - discrepancies of opinion re: the degree of Wolfgang's current influence within the band?), I'm more of a voyeur than a participant at heart...same goes for orgies.
Scramby eggs and bacon.
The GW EVH cover story (along with the Wolf interview) was okay, I suppose. I guess it's the relative lack of interviews from the band so far this year (although when I think of it, the band released interviews online, on the 2 disc ADKOT edition as well as several other interviews in print) that makes it seem a bit more special than it is...I enjoyed reading about Eddie and Wolf's perspectives regarding the making of ADKOT. It seems that Ed is in a positive frame of mind, although that was readily apparent from his performances on tour this spring. That Eddie hopes the current arrangement will continue to release music is only a good thing in my book.
Yes I agree, I would have liked some more in depth discussion of the recording process, etc. but as you said, it was good to hear Eddie say that Van Halen was continuing with Dave making records, touring, etc. it was also cool to hear Eddie praising Dave's acoustic guitar skills. I'm sure it's made clear to all journalist to not bring up Sammy Hagar (which is fine by me) but the ultimate interview would be interview Ed and Dave.
I'm not so sure I want all the details here. Keep the mystery. (Something VH have been great at doing the last 30-odd years.) Having said that "if" the album had turned out to be a flop, then I could go for the warts-and-all behind the scenes video stuff, if only just to detract from the muse.
The guitarist in me loves the details of the little things Eddie does when recording solos and such, but each to his own. It's just good to see him back in GW talking about the band with Dave like the old days.
Am kind of torn, because while I would be interested in the particulars behind the production, I also agree that putting it under a microscope does kind of take away the mystery of it.
I'd rather be a fly on the wall at the rehearsals, when it's just the four of them...or to have been there when the 6-pack stuff was being laid down...to actually be present hearing the music, as opposed to reading about it.
There may well be pre-interview conditions about no questions regarding Hagar or Anthony, but to be honest that stuff was really only of interest to me in the years 1997 to 2012, when little to no music was forthcoming. All of that stuff has been hashed and rehashed over and over a million times. While Sam Hagar and Mike Anthony are still willing to discuss that stuff in interviews, why should the Van Halens? With a new album and tour, the Van Halens and Roth obviously have better things to talk about. I mean, the soap opera theatrics in the press were useful when there was fuck all else going on, but now that the band is active again with a strong new album and a lengthy tour, who really gives a shit about Sam Hagar and Mike Anthony?
I read a book on Charles Manson a few summers ago I thought it might help with picking up chicks.
So, in other words, you're no fucking different than any other moron jerkoff that blows smoke out of the side of their neck....
'Untrained ears"?? WTF!!!
You'd consider yourself fortunate to even learn half of what those "95%" forgot.
That's just what this fuckin' place needs.....some idiotic dumbfuck that tries to sound intelligent.
Classic hamBon!
Asshale ??
I think asshale asshaled...
Last time I checked I wasn't trying to get anything published...
I'd have to agree, even though I find him to be completely useless.
A large percentage of folks here actually play, have been in bands, and been around music their entire life....
....and here comes this dumbass, who by his very own admission, doesn't know jack shit about any of it.
And yet it didn't stop him from claiming to be a member of some elite 5%. Of what? expert 'listeners'?
I'm sure alot of folks have opposable thumbs too, so why would they need him to jerk them off??
Like I said.....fuckin' useless!
Damn...screwed the pooch on that one. Umm...both? They don't take up any more room than 1 Rosie. So 2 for 1. Ann Coulter needs to go too. Even though I agree with SOME of her viewpoints, she sure is a fucking loudmouth bitch.
But I was thinking Rachel Maddow at the time but was running through all the women I hate currently and possibly Michelle Malkin popped in there. If anyone was wondering it was NOT Michelle Obama. I don't like her, but not enough to waste one of my deserted island 5-spot on her. But can you imagine her & Rosie together? Rosie eating all the food while Michelle tells her how bad it is for her.
The problem is staying power. Like that soldier who was killed and his mom was camping outside the Texas Bush compound. As much as I disliked her, she had little staying power. Went away on her own. No need to waste valuable deserted island space on her.
Ugh...Gretchen Carlson. That whole morning show crew bugs the shit out of me. Unwatchable. But I can just not watch. The thing about your Rosie Odonnel types is they pop into your face no matter where you go. You can't escape them. Always poking their big faces into your business.
“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”
Say Elvis,why all the hate?
I really love you baby, I love what you've got
Let's get together we can, Get hot
It's not hate...
It's not love.Where is the love?
Not a slight on you or anything Elvis.I am sure you are a very nice guy,But you don't half come off bitter most of the time.Seriously Elvis the glass is half full and it's all good.I will tell you another thing that is good,A big ole' smile
I smile all the time and my glass is more than half full...
I just enjoy letting my pessimism out now and then...
