My Spanish speaking pal translated the intro as
"Now heavy metal from our studio - from the group Van Halen - a group composed of Americans and Irishmen (yes he really says that!) - and we think are very good and one of the best of the international groups of this style. (missed the next bit) The most full of force, the most pure heavy metal in our program today!"
Why does Dave have a guitar in his hands? And why are the kids in the audience dancing around like Public Image LTD is on stage? I don't think i ever want to see that video again.
There is another lip sync video where Dave did this at the same time on a European tv show but it kind of made sense for him to do that because there were no mikes set up - who wants to mime without a mike?
You have to remember these were simpler times, I didn't even know that bands mimed on TV until about the mid 80s, lots of people still don't know or care.
FFS look at the Madonna halftime Superbowl show, her miming was barely mentioned.
The guy thinking some of them were Irish is funny, any other Spanish speakers confirm?

I love this video because It's just the boys screwin' around and having fun! Of fucking course this dosen't reflect what the stage act is because anyone with a brain knows that they are an absolute powerhouse on stage. Just watch this for what it really is.

Television in Spain changed radically in the years following the death of Francisco Franco in 1975. They did one of these for French TV I think. Dave was holding a red strat maybe.

None of them. The video is a segment of the RTVE (Spanish TV) music program "Aplauso" (applause), from May 1st. 1982 "Especial Rock Heavy Metal".

For Especial Rock Heavy Metal of May 1st 1982, the bands announced were Meat Loaf, Thin Lizzy, a couple of spanish metal bands, Ted Nugent, and Van Halen; they all performed doing "playback".
A video of AC/DC and Iron Maiden (The Number of The Beast) was also transmitted.
