Yes, that is true --- Dave posted that audio chapter on his website in the late 90's but then took it down after about 6 months and no one has seen it since. I'd love to get my hands on it.

I have the hardcopy version of "Crazy from the Heat" in my storage unit. I've been tempted to scan it so I can enjoy it on modern devices like my iPad 3.

Maybe I will post the PDF here after I finish scanning it.

I'm not sure, but I would bet it is.

I think Dave only recorded one audio chapter --- mainly a promo gimmick to get people to buy his book.

There are places one can buy the book, it was a best seller and Dave is now again the lead singer for Van Halen...hence it can be found. I'm sure it can be ordered online from somewhere and it does not have to be Amazon. Dave took his time and energy to do that book. If this was a bootleg song where one had no option but to get it through bootleg channels, I would understand but this is not the case. I say you go and BUY the book and give Dave his due. From a creative standpoint, this is no different than burning free copies of songs and sharing them.

Scanning published, copyright material without permission from the author or publisher is in most cases illegal and puts the site into some murky legal waters. You can post the material if is in the public domain (published before 1923), is determined to meet Fair Use parameters (this normally only applies to online instructional courses) or if you have the previously mentioned permission granted by the work's copyright owner.
