Just to clarify Sesh, we don't have private insurance, except for extended health. That covers dental, vision, chiro, massage, physio, prescription meds, etc.

Actually, there are people here in the US who seem to think that private insurers should be illegal. They think anyone making a profit in the healthcare industry should be illegal. How are your physicians paid, by some sort of scale?

The best care for life threatening conditions in the US is marginally better than public healthcare here. The main difference is that cancer survival rates are higher in the US but that gap is being narrowed all the time. I think a lot of that was to do with human nature, if you are paying for something directly then you go get your health checks and they were being picked up earlier.

I think they SHOULD be paid well. Docs are crazy intelligent and have busted their ass for years to get where they are. Taking any sort of profit incentive out of the mix would have a detrimental effect on care, just as it has in the UK or Sweden or even France, where their healthcare system let over 11,000 Seniors die during the month of August several years back because of the heat. Combine that with the Euthanasia program in the UK, I guess Europeans believe the elderly should just be discarded to save a little money.

If you're gonna pay much money for the doctor you have to be rich. What about poor people? Don't they deserve good treatment? Or is human life valued on how much money you've got? Cause EVERYBODY can't be rich. In order for you to be rich, someone else has to be poor, cause the resources aren't unlimited.
Or should we just continue feeding and eating off of Africa, so that everybody in west has it good, while they die from hunger and other misery.
