Led Zeppelin Soon to Announce '07 Concert on DVD

It's basically now the worst kept secret in rock, but it's great news.... The band has been giving not-so-subtle hints the last few days, and today's hint makes it crystal clear, as if we didn't realize it already....

    Yesterday they posted this....

    And today....

Betcha anything this is leading up to a DVD release of the O2 Arena show from London, England in 2007. This turkey has been rumored for release since early in 2010, so it appears that Page and company may finally have finished dicking with it via drastic post-production efforts to warrant it's exposure. Pardon me while I stifle a yawn...

Thank you for the link to the whole thing, man. Just caught a bit of Trampled Underfoot. Damn good stuff. I don't usually watch these cellphone things, and it would never have occurred to me to even look, but I might just have to take the evening off and sit through it all.

I never though Plant would allow it.

It'll sell by the bucketload regardless of its quality, however.

Took them 5 years to do the overdubs?

Hell, if they were that committed to getting it right, maybe I should have sent Bonzo up there so he could do a new set of drum tracks?

Don't need no overdubs, Satan - listen to the cellphone footage embedded in VA's post. Once they got into their stride, by the 3rd or 4th number, they were cooking.

Certainly was just a matter of time . That being said , I'll be snatching up a copy sooner than later .
Makes me wonder how many of Jimmy Pages notoriously bad live mistakes had to be " fixed " ? I'm not ragging on Jimmy Page in any way , shape , or form here . Overall , he is my favorite guitarist of all time , warts and all .
Everyone knows that Page could be stunningly brilliant and stunningly sloppy all in one fell swoop .
Live dates ? Hhhhmmm....and it makes me wonder.....

The Song Remains The Same (the album) took three years to "edit". Page should have put a little more effort into the movie version.

Sometimes it's not mistakes. Sometimes it's just a matter of it could sound better. I bought the updated "One More From The Road" a few years ago. It has several live versions of some songs recorded at several shows at the same venue. The little booklet inside told about one of the solos on "Freebird" that was overdubbed and how the original version was as good if not better than the final edit.

I totally agree . I bought the re-released " One More From The Road " and ate it up booklet and all .
The late - great Allen Collins was so very brilliant and a notorious perfectionist .
I still have my original double vinyl of " One More.... " ( second copy ! ) complete with the album insert .
I wore out the first one and handled the second one with kid gloves .
Classic Skynyrd , Zeppelin , classic Van Halen - WE have great taste !
I wish Ted Nugents " Double Live Gonzo ! " would get a remastered ( plus goodies ) makeover .

I've had the super-duper multi-cam bootleg version of this on DVD for a few years now... such a great show. I can't wait to get this on Blu-Ray!

I had the original Street Survivors album for years. The one with flames engulfing Steve Gaines and the tour of the south sleeve. Left all my albums behind by accident when I moved back with the parents while on delayed enlistment into the Navy. I remembered too late to get them back. Had a couple decent Rolling Stones bootlegs too.

Yea I have it also. They played really good. I think they fucked up Dazed at the end if I remember right ? Overall they were solid. Some of the songs were tuned down for Plant's voice. Kasmir was really good. I will pick it up for sure. Can't wait.

Yes, I have had the 10-cam O2 Arena show since it came out.

I will get this just to have the improved sound and picture.

Call it a fitting end to a great band.

I'm not super excited about this, but maybe hearing it properly mixed/mastered will finally give me some excitement for this show.

It's not like there's much else interesting coming out. I'd love to have the Stone's Brussels Affair on vinyl, but the cocksuckers are charging like $700 for it.

The new ZZ top record looks cool...

Ah, so they're following the Stones blueprint here.... A one day only theatrical release, and then get the DVD in the stores in time for the Xmas commercialism orgy.

In celebration of Celebration Day, I give you one-half of Led Zeppelin - Band of Joy, 1968, and the best version of this song I have heard:

    Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day
    September 13, 2012
Audio And Video From Legendary 2007 Concert
To Be Available In Multiple Configurations On November 19

Concert Slated For Global Theatrical Release On October 17

(Los Angeles, Sept. 13, 2012) – On December 10, 2007, Led Zeppelin took the stage at London’s O2 Arena to headline a tribute concert for dear friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. What followed was a two-hour-plus tour de force of the band’s signature blues-infused rock ’n’ roll that instantly became part of the legend of Led Zeppelin. Founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, to perform 16 songs from their celebrated catalog including landmark tracks “Whole Lotta Love,” “Rock And Roll,” “Kashmir,” and “Stairway To Heaven.”

Although 20 million people applied for tickets, the band’s first headline show in 27 years was seen only by the 18,000 ticket holders who were fortunate enough to have secured seats through the worldwide lottery.

The film of Celebration Day will see a worldwide theatrical release by Omniverse Vision on 1,500 screens in over 40 territories on October 17. The theatrical screenings will follow premieres in London, Los Angeles, New York, and other major cities. Tickets for the public screenings will be available on September 13 via ledzeppelin.com.

Celebration Day will then be available in multiple video and audio formats on November 19 from Swan Song/Atlantic Records. Specific product details will be announced soon.

I agree and I'll go a step further, I thought it was a dreadful performance (mainly by Plant). I'm happy they didn't go through with a tour because, like The Police, it wasn't close to being a reasonable facsimile of what that band once was. Hearing all those songs tuned down was painful to my ears.

Yeah, REAL Skynyrd was one Hell of a band. Can't stand the joke that Ronnie's little brother has turned them into though.

Are any ACTUAL members of Lynyrd Skynyrd still alive?

Nice! I have an old boot of this tune and Hey Joe....which was pretty damn solid too.

When do these guys get their due and get inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame? Even though the Hall is a joke....so many deserving artists left out.

They are in. Got in a few years back. All of the old original guy's played. Even crazy Bob Burns played drums. They did Alabama & Freebird. The original band was unreel live. I put them in my top 5.

Ed King, Artimus Pyle & Bob Burns are still around. They were at the Hall induction & played.

I will be interested to see if they fixed the screw ups. There were a few but not many. If they did Page probably used some audio from the rehearsals I would think. No big deal to me. What live album hasn't been fixed ? Maybe Double Live Gonzo. And Ted's not a fan of it.

Check it out ! Talk about dumb luck ! One day out of the clear blue - I wandered into a local second hand / antique store .
To my amazement and several double takes and wide - eyed , jaw - dropped gasps of disbelief - There It Was - lying on a shelf amongst junky books and other discarded second hand crap Street Survivors original cover with both inserts intact for - get this - a dollar ! Still have it . Here 30 years later - It is encased in a heavy duty plastic collectors sleeve and rarely see's the light of day .
