Sad, but that's how it is and why we get an album every 4-5 years instead of 1-2 years. Just stick the 4 guys in the room & record them playing. Cheap Trick style. Play the song 5 times and use the version that sounds best.

That is preferable. But in my case, when I record my own stuff, I put myself in a room and record what sounds best.
Then I have to do it again for bass. Then I have to do it again for guitar. Then I have to do it again for vox.

            Etc.

THEN finally I get to mix. And archaeologists will discover me sitting at a console 3,000 years from now, lol.

I only had 1 tune that was a nightmare to mix.
It had some bizarre things in the mix that there was really no accounting for. (backwards echo...cool effect in context of the solo...I sure didn't put it in) When you discover that any little adjustment in the mix changes the feel of the whole track is where you get the syndrome depicted in the picture.

Hardest part is finishing a song. Anyone can have a zillion "A sections" but to get in there and grind it out and shut off your inner critic is a process that can sometimes be maddening. If you get a section that isn't up to snuff just shut up and keep going because the section after could be incredible! You can always go back and fix the one that you felt not as strongly about. (unless it's a good transition)

I can relate to how the skeleton dude feels...I finally got my PT license to work on the new system, which will enable me to do the crossgrade from LE instead of having to start from scratch and pay full pop...saving hundred$. Looks like I'm going to have to go back and replace all the speaker emulations with the new version of Recabinet, but I'll deal with that after the crossgrade install is done. Funny, I muted all the tracks missing emulations and was just listening to some direct Strat tracks with AC30, Marshall and Bassman emulations fully in PODfarm...still not bad!
