What did you think of the debate tonight?
I think the President has a better message, but Romney has a better delivery. Obama wouldn't look at Romney, would get talked over and looked at times sour and even petty. His delivery was clumsy on a lot of issues.
Obama hasn't had to debate in 4 years ... Romney has spent the last year debating. And it showed.

Agree Wrongney's bully-bluster was the "better" delivery in that he rolled Leher - but he lied enough to set up another series of "busted" campaign ads...
That could have gone any better even if we had scripted it ourselves.

I knew Romney would win. Obama is NEVER good without a teleprompter unless he is talking with a predominantly black audience and changes his vocal inflections. He tries to overthink everything and make sure he answers everything perfect which means he isn't going to flow well.
He and his handlers will take this 1st debate and make corrections. But I have a feeling even though he might do better the next two, so will Romney. But I don't think these deabtes will really change many peoples minds overall. Just fun to watch.

And everytime CNN opens up a poll on their website (or probably by text message now days) the call goes out to the right wing websites to swarm the polls.
It's a very "non-scientific" sample.

I think Romney had a better showing but... as has been the case the thing that makes me most uncomfortable is his lack of specifics. Talks a lot about doing away with programs but doesn't present any clear road map as to what exactly is going to replace things going forward.

Romney did what "wins" debates....
He was more aggressive, while Obama was extremely passive....
Romney kept constant eye contact with Obama, while Obama was always looking down at his notes.....
It was a disappointing performance for the President, to put it lightly....
Having said that, I have no doubt he'll be on the offensive for the last two debates....

That's complete horseshit. Obama lost, just like Reagan 'lost' the first debate in 1984. The incumbent is always at a disadvantage for reasons of four years of "rust" already mentioned, but also because I think Obama puss'd out by not going after Romney's bullshit "I'm not going to cut billion$ in taxes," the continued "$716M Medicare cut" lie, and the golden opportunities Romney offered when he mentioned his "accountant" to which Obama could have destroyed him over his offshore accounts and lack of disclosure on taxes...
Obama was rusty and was trying to take the 'high road' to avoid his likability from declining by playing not to lose rather than to win...
He looks like he dressed up as a zombie for Halloween...
Not to mention that PBS may well have a net positive economic impact...
