Hilarious. Heater hasn't put in his time here or else he'd know that Dave has hiked jungles as well as Yosemite where the Skyscraper album cover shot took place... besides, you heard he was scared? Do tell your source for your rhetoric...

I don't know his source, but here's mine:

    http://climbing.about.com/b/2013/11/...aper-story.htm

" Ron Kauk lowers down and places a bunch of A4 pitons with the final piton a long medium Lost Arrow piton that sticks out about three-quarters of its length. "Ron tells me he hopes it holds David's ass. Ha ha ha ha." They get David Lee Roth on a rope and have him rappel down to the last piton. "He takes one look at that thing and says F*@%! I'm not hanging off that thing. It'll pull out and I'll die. He is now visibly shaking real bad and scared s---less." Roth doesn't know what to think since he has virtually no experience aid climbing.

Werner tells Roth that he has to have "faith in the rigger and the rigger will never lie to you." He then tells Roth that the piton is one foot long and that seven inches of the Lost Arrow "he's looking at is buried in that horizontal crack to his total disbelief." Ron, listening to the dialogue, rolled his eyes while Galen waited impatiently to start burning film. Finally David Lee Roth "gets on that thing shaking like s---."

Werner Braun remembers, "The shoot is on! David does his Hollywood mode. Smiles and all in between bouts of shakes and deep breaths. Galen shoots off his 20 or so rolls in record time and David gets his rope back from above and jugs out. I clean the piton he was on with one jerk of my hand. Kauk's eyes roll again and we're out of there." After the shoot, Roth gave Kauk and Braun a gold-plated carabiner engraved with "Diamond Dave."

The above post highlights his scaredypantsness. I'm aware of his jungle excursions and his jaunts to Yosemite...would that be the same Yosemite where families go camping and such? Did Dave almost get burned to death by a flaming marshmallow or something? Whew, he's lucky to be alive!

In all seriousness, why the fuck did you join a David Lee Roth fan forum if you're not a fan? Makes no fucking sense whatsoever.

It's quite obvious....Early 80's....Sister Heater asks Mother Heater if she can go to a Van Halen Concert.
Mother Heater says " OK, but only If I go with you." Mother Heater and Sister Heater have Uncle Heater babby sit Heater and tell them that they will be home at around Midnight.
Mother Heater and Sister Heater get a back stage invite, The Toast Master General fucks them both at the same time. They get back home around 4 A.M. only to find poor little Heater with his asshole blown out from Uncle Heater fucking him up the ass all night. Heater has all ways blamed the Toast Master General for what happened and now spends his adult life locked in a room trying to rain on the largest parade to ever walk the earth.

Yikes. Another repressed memory pushed onto somebody else, sounds awfully first hand to me. Extra bonus points for fantasizing about Dave (God). I'm a fan of a lot of his music just not obsessed with the man himself to the extent some of you are.

OK, I will except the Extra bonus points and use them towards a bag of purina sheep chow to try and lure you over to the Boy George Forum where you belong. I mean, there is a Boy George Forum...Yes...No?

RE: The 4:35 "Great Van Halen Project"....

Who the hell knows at this point. He already mentioned the new album sometime next year, so I wouldn't think he'd be referring to that.

With Ed sober and with the success of all things CVH.........I'm hopeful that we'll not only get another album but start getting vintage shows released.

Hell, the last concert footage boot made national headlines......so they have to know the demand is there!

Before I send off another vote for Werner's book....here's some more David Roth trivia.
Growing up in Altadena, I lived a block from his parent's house. Along with all the boys his age we all wanted to be rock stars. I gave up that dream quickly to scramble on rocks instead. We would see David around town doing house parties before they hit up Hollywierd. My twin sister even dated him once (jr high), she said the night didn't go well. I wonder if I will see him at the high school reunion this year (40th), but then I remembered he was shipped off to the "bad boy school" for one too many infractions at John Muir HS. Wonder if he ever did graduate....
Pretty good comments in that rock climbing forum.

Keeping the Roth Shows at 20 minutes or so seems more bearable...

Congrats on offending the nation of Japan and the city of Yokohoma... LOL.

Maybe the next episode we can get an in-depth tour of his automated sprinkler system and interview with his gardener...

Sadly, I'm at that point where looking in the rearview mirror is more interesting than looking forward with Van Halen. Releasing a DVD full of old concerts and backstage footage would get me hard, but a new album full of reworked demos doesn't really squeeze my lemon. Plus, hearing rants in every city about "blowers" isn't cool unless Dave shows a hot MILF sucking him off in the hotel room.

A reunion tour with Sobolewski would squeeze a $70.00 ticket outta me, though.

I'd be happy with just a release of the old stuff. At least we could all say "Finally!"

The Great Van Halen Project, eh?

I'm calling it right now, New album and tour for 2015. (Can you fucking believe that there are some idiots on the VHND facebook saying that the Project is "herpa derp sammy hagar returning to vh")

You got lotto numbers in that crystal ball too? Dave did mention 2015 for an album, so this isn't necessarily shocking.

Nah he has mentioned an album before he can't really go back and say it's a secret must be something else .
And people at the vhnd saying it's the return of Hagar .... I mean wow can just see Dave happy to announce that .

Maybe it's to announce the van halen's are finally releasing the NSA files documenting they were kidnapped in 85 and held hostage whilst Korean robots replaced them . Dave in a secret ninja mission sprung them to tour in 07. And now they are demanding the cd's made by these sub standard clones be destroyed and taken on out of circulation ( guess who's not back in circulation , if you will ).
That's why they haven't previously released stuff from the vaults as it was full of spare robot parts ....
It's all clear to me now

About 5 or 6 years ago, Ed did say he had footage of him playing in his high school talent show. I recall him saying people would really trip out if they saw some of the stuff he had. "Some day" he said, which I fully realize translates to 'possibly never, now quit buggin' me', but maybe he's finally up for compiling some artifacts from the bands utterly fascinating formative years. It would make sense to do that sort of thing with the major assist of Dave, of coarse. So that's my guess/hope. That would be cool if "they" (Ed, Al & Dave) being the key three, did a nice follow up retrospective along the lines of the video discussions they had with each other a couple of years ago.

When has Dave really been anything but single?

Sure, he broke with tradition and mentioned, even allowed a picture of an alleged "girl friend" in Japan... but his treks to Japan have been just the usual, brief self-indulgent hobby excursions. I suspect that young Japanese woman was just another side trip.

Once the thrill of posing in cartoon masks publicly with his dog, a few walks in the park in his plaid suit and Dave had exhausted his worn out humor used and reused over the course of many summers... the new wore off and the messy business of real relationships entered the equation. Then Dave headed home... to dance on his empty dance floor... have long philosophical talks by his empty pool... play with his dog.

They probably found themselves sitting silently wondering why they were in the same room... The aging rock star chasing rainbows as the sun sets on his career and life... and the young woman with a whole future ahead of her, family plans and traditional Japanese values. Doesn't take a great visionary to see where that union was all heading...

There was a time many of us envied Dave's fabulous, flamboyant life or at least what he "sold" us publicly. As time marches on and another endless summer approaches... I feel a sense of sadness for the man. By all accounts, in 60 years he's never found his soul-mate... either they never crossed paths or he was too busy acting the clown and running his mouth to notice the "special one" other than the one in the mirror...

Can you imagine having to spend weeks on end with Dave? I think after hearing the same story for the millionth time I'd be heading for the hills. Besides, the groupies reported he was a really lousy lay.

    Great Van Halen Project...

How about the old tradition of speculation...

Seems logical to look at VH's management (Azoff MSG Entertainment) which is in a huge transformation phase and what do they have in the hopper currently...

Partnership with ACTV8 with the rollout of Streets of the City, a Live Music Discovery TV Show.

The TV show will utilize interactive ground-breaking technology that encourages viewers to participate in a completely original way.

Could Van Halen be involved in a live music interactive TV show?? Dave does TV...

Then there's the recent acquisition of Burns Entertainment which represents blue-chip companies in matching celebrities and licensing music for advertising campaigns and promotions. Which Fortune 100 company could use Van Halen hitched to their product marketing?

You sound like a lovestruck 14 yr. old girl who just got done watching "The Notebook" for the 18th time.

"Finding your soulmate" is the dream for average folks like you and me who are resigned to a boring life with a mediocre job and not much else going on. Dave never had to settle for finding a soulmate because he was too happy living a life of fantasy that was unreachable for the rest of us. Lots of memories were made, and that's all you can take with you to the grave.

Look at how many divorces there are, and how many guys marry quickly after divorce or death of spouse --- and all those delusions about soulmates evaporate like a cloud of smoke.

I too think the term "soul mate" is a bit goofy. Kinda like when people say that they "married their best friend". Both terms are used by couples who identify with "When It's Love" and have it played at their wedding.

"Soul mates" only makes sense when you're getting misty-eyed watching "The Notebook" or "Titanic" --- but then the credits roll, you scratch your nuts, grab another cold one and get back to real life.
