"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth
Oh NOW I get it...
My karma just ran over your dogma.
Appears Dave's kitchen could use an upgrade... that dishwasher looks like something from the 70's and who uses dish drainers on the counter top anymore..?
"If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”
now i am a star and broke...
Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. You log on the next day to see what your witty gem has produced to find no one gets it and 2 knotheads want to stick their dicks in it... Well played, sir!!
Money or failing as a musician doesn't really have anything to do with using a drying rack. Was only goofing. We use a drying rack for pots and pans.
Remember the 2008 concert rider? Dave was a Red Bull junkie.

He's probably not slept since the 80's
And in 1982, some one had a lube addiction.....

Or used it on his knees to do power slides across the stage.
I once stayed at a hotel that gave the guests complimentary fruit baskets. I digging through the basket seeing what was in it and along with the fruit, cheese, and crackers was a big tube of KY Jelly. No shit. I'm like thinking where's the condoms?
Probably left over from the VH tour!

The timing of this is pure Dave....
Think about it: October 1984 - Dave just left Van Halen.... So does he sulk about it? Fuck no, he goes to New Guinea....
Holy shit this was the best one yet.
Maybe this is what a heroine addict feels like after getting a long awaited fix, shooting up in the corner of some abandoned building and just not giving a fuck about what the rest of the world thinks...TATTOO"
Jungle Studs baby!

Who cares when it was... Thankfully Dave didn't quit Dave... The show must go on and it did. Nuff said!!
Requested Roth Show Topics
These ideas may come off as pedestrian when compared to the overall basis for episode 6, however, it would still be fantastic to see and hear the following topics discussed.
• Young Dave crooning with his acoustic. As mentioned in the great article posted by VH Scraps, Dave made his rounds in clubs as a one man acoustic guitar and singer act for a time in the early 1970's. What was that like? What songs besides Ice Cream Man did Dave perform? Covers? Originals? Any photos besides the one or two we've seen from this period in his life?
• Red Ball Jet- Insight into Dave's first band-fronting stage gig with mic in hand. Who was involved? How did that get started? What did it sound like? Are there any photos or recordings of this band? Did they disband the day Dave took a gig elsewhere?
• Black Oak Arkansas- In the Van Halen - The Early Years Documentary, there is mention of Dave bringing an 8 mm movie camera to the shows to film Jim "Dandy" Mangrum's moves. I find this fascinating, but I'd like to hear more of how, or even if, that actually took place, from the horses mouth.
I passed it on....
these are pretty fuckin cool , I hope he keeps bringing them out.
This episode was amazing on a few different levels. The Jungle Studs stories were more graspable (?) in this format than in his book. His sense of humor, like his cool, ages like a fine wine and God Dammit, if he didn't also manage to come off like a guy who'd be great around kids! His silly voices and pantomiming are delightful and superbly delivered.
Ok, last night I had too much beer. Now, I'm swimming in coffee. I'll calm down.

Love the casual vibe - no rock star pretensions whatsoever. It's like his assistant said "time to shoot" and Dave stops shoveling shit or or whatever it is he does around the MojoDojo, has a Red Bull, and starts talking. Doesn't even bother to change his grubby overalls. Classic.
