Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth
Do you guys think Roth is done with Van Halen?
I don't care what you say - you can't watch that thank you vid and not think that DLR doesn't thoroughly, 100%, no-holds-barred enjoy his life.
My karma just ran over your dogma.

Thank YOU Dave
Maybe I'm wrong, but was that JHale667 getting an autograph there in the video. I remember from the Henson Studio Family & Friends picture with Jeff & Brett.

2014 is the 30th anniversary of 1984.
Would be nice if they did something to honour that milestone.

Now would be a nice time for Dave to release something. School terms almost finished...we're all bored.

Maybe he should plug it up like Sauce did.
They probably won't do anything, and that's probably because they have nothing to do with Warners these days ... Dave certainly seems to have little motivation to market the back catalogue because his royalty rate on those albums is so bad that he was saying earlier this year (on one of those radio interviews) that he didn't care if people stole the 6 Pack albums.
But, any other band who were still sort of active might think about marking a 30th anniversary of an album with a special edition, with a few extras.
I wonder if you all remember - 'cos I do, and I have been waiting ... - that in an interview with Guitar World just after they had done recording 1984 that Eddie specifically said they cut 13 tunes. In fact, I am pretty sure - without going and checking - that he said they FINISHED 13 tunes. There are what - nine cuts on the album??? That includes the opening instrumental.
I was just looking at that Classic Rock story about the making of 1984 from last year, and this is what interests me:
Now, granted that some of these tracks were probably recycled later, and Hagar got to scream over tracks that Dave might have had a hand in arranging, just let's hear 'em already. One thing that listeners new to the album today might note is how short the album—at just over 30 minutes—actually is. In 1983, the CD, with its 70-minute-plus capacity had just been launched. So, it was still common to think in terms of the vinyl album and its inherent limitations. Speaking to Steve Rosen in late summer, 1983, Eddie said that they had “all the tracks finished for thirteen tunes but we can’t use them all. The songs are four to five minutes long and we don’t like putting more than thirty-five or forty minutes on a record because you lose that crispness. It starts sounding like a greatest hit package from the ’50s. You lose fidelity.”
Although rumours have circulated of a version of Wilson Pickett’s In the Midnight Hour, a rendering of an old sea shanty titled Blow the Man Down (true to the spirit of Roth-era Van Halen), and other titles that were trailed by band members in the press — Eat Your Neighbour, Anytime Anyplace—it remains a mystery whether or not anything lies in the vaults. One thing that is true, however, is that Van Halen are perhaps unique amongst acts of their stature in never having expanded editions of albums, box sets and the like. Even in the old days, there was not a single 7” B-side that wasn’t already on the albums.

The Roth Show, Season Two - Promo #1
Let's hope Season 2 of The Roth Show has more CVH footage than Season 1.
The Roth Show, Season 2, Promo #2....
"Nothin' but high reps and heavy training for the new Van Halen sessions, hell yeah, nothin' but yeah..."
Writing In All Proper Case Takes Extra Time, Is Confusing To Read, And Is Completely Pointless.
There are few in this world who consistently make me wonder "WTF?" quite like Dave.
I like the "new Van Halen sessions" part better than the pic.
