Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth
Can't open the audio file, but thanks anyway. Updating my VLC player, maybe it'll work this way.
I can listen to it here, thanks!!!!!!
Interesting. So, looks like he's gonna be in this band Tremonti as a more or less permanent member - sounds like he will be writing songs for an album with them,
I hope when he was walking around Glasgow he came across the new Hydro Arena, currently being built as I write. Should be open just in time for VH to do a show there ... next year.
THINK LIKE THE WAVES
I took two things out of it....
1. His opinions about the naysayers (many of them here, BTW).....
2. Many more songs in the vault for the next album.....
It's also on blabbermouth if you have trouble connecting...

Healthy attitude about the mixed reactions from the VH fan base... He has to have a strong character to have endured that transition. Especially at his age. Even if they had gone with an experienced bass player or industry name... no one would have had a smooth ride and instant acceptance. Not because of who they are... but because of how his dad and uncle dealt with the Michael Anthony situation.
Sounds encouraging about future VH music being written, composed and/or recycled/resurrected from the vaults. We can only hope the 3 aging members stay healthy enough to keep things on track...
"If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”
What I took away from it was how things are in the world of VH. It appears that this is how things have been for the last 25 years. Ed and AL hang out, play every week for a few days and drag all the projects down to a snail's pace. Seems like Wolfie is gonna stay busy in this Tremonti band. Dave is just hanging out because he doesn't want Ed and Al to flip out if he puts out other albums ( like CFTH) or does other projects.
So, it seems there is a double standard. If you are Wolfie, you can play in other bands while Ed and Al sit on the couch. If you are Dave or Hagar, you are not allowed to do anything outside of VH.
Also, I heard that it took almost 3 years, from start to release, for ADKOT. This means that if they start on a new album right now, We will get it at the end of 2015. I am not gonna hold my breath.
It seems nothing changes with VH. I would love to see Dave leave VH, put out a few more albums like EEAS, or DLR band. But that wont happen. If he leaves VH, we will get more YFLM albums. So, I guess it is better that he stays in VH and puts out an album like ADKOT every 3-5 years and tours every 5 years. Better for fans like me.
Given their age and what appears to be increasing fragility of their health... I don't think these guys have the luxury to fart around for 3-5 years to put something out.
Not saying they should work at the pace of their 20's & 30's either. If they take care of themselves and manage their pace... I see hopefully a 10 year fully productive window for them to write, record and do limited tours. Hopefully beyond that... But realistically the next 3-5 years are their best opportunity to stay near the top of their game and hold share in the industry. If they piss that away their next album, if it comes to fruition will be aptly named... Missed Opportunity...
It's a fact of life that aging bands take years between albums. Look at the Stones.... they managed to make three albums in the 80s, two albums in the 90s, one album in the 2000's, and in this decade, apparently they're down to just two new songs on yet another greatest hits compilation.
U2 is averaging 4 or 5 years between albums. The Who - if you can consider them to be a band anymore - took about 30 years to make one studio album (after their first "breakup" in 1982) and unlike "A Different Kind of Truth", it really wasn't worth the wait.
If Van Halen can make another album as good as ADKOT, then they can take their damn time doing so.... but hopefully NOT another 27 years!

Just give me the official releases of some of the old shows, so I can ride off into the sunset...
So when does the next episode of the Roth Show come out? Maybe a streamed New Year's Eve show, live from the House of Blues in Vegas
American by birth. Southern by the grace of God.
It can be argued that the decision to build ADKOT from the archives of the past was inspired by bands like the Stones rebooting old songs in their remastering of old albums like Exile and Some Girls with the "bonus tracks". If this is the case, then I hope VH is also paying attention to the Stones live archive releases and take similar inspiration from that. And also from Zeppelin's release of Live DVDs, for that matter.

There won't be any more 'new' albums or tours for Van Halen.
“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”
I don't disagree with that personally, but there was no live taping for a DVD/CD this tour....
And in reference to any older material, unfortunately it appears that if EVH wanted to release any of it, it would have been done already.... Not to mention that I've got a sneaking suspicion that if you put a gun to anyone affiliated with VH management, they couldn't tell you where any of the decent recordings are in the first place....
Wolfgang is a very, very smart young man...I can figure him and Dave handling the brothers...

I would love if Ed adopted the Kiss attitude to his fans and just let everyone have everything.A Van Halenology or two would be fantastic and pretty easy for them to do.It pisses me off that Ed rules Van Halen with an iron fist and everyone has to tip toe around him for fear of being kicked out.If Dave was allowed some control within the band I can't help but think we would have a collection of good VH DVD's and unreleased material and so on.
I really love you baby, I love what you've got
Let's get together we can, Get hot
Cool stuff he seems a pretty laid back kid , hope he mentions to his dad about being invited to Newcastle
fuck your fucking framing
I'm comfortable with the future of VH - seems like Wolfie has a pretty good perspective on things. Besides, I'd be good with ADKOT and the '12 tour at this point. Sure, one more tour in which DLR miraculously got his voice and balls back would be tits, but after 86-06, beggars can't be choosers. Another album of ADKOT leftovers would be stellar - a tour in support of it even better - but if the 13 tracks from 'A Different Kind of Truth' are all we get to ride off into the sunset with, I'm okay with that. Somehow I don't think Wolf is going to let that happen.
My karma just ran over your dogma.
New material from VH next year with the almost all of it being new and not updated demos. Think thats their intention of course its VH so intention of 2013 may mean outside chance at 2014.
It's my understanding that with Ed's recent surgery that he can't do anything too physical for a while, including playing a guitar while standing. If that's the case, I don't see why he couldn't play in the studio sitting down. A VH album in the fall of 2013 would be amazing. After listening to this Wolf clip I feel like it may be possible in the next 12-18 months.
