Barbara Boxer is submitting a bill to have the National Guard stationed at the schools. What the fuck? What country is this? What year is this? That is totally insane. I would not have wanted to go to any school with the national guard nor would I send my child to one. The schools are already totally fenced in and many with metal detectors & locked gates. Add armed uniformed guards & they start looking like little concentration camps.....





...and since everyone is diagnosed nowadays with ADD & ADHD we know concentration is the last thing happening there.

I don't like either idea. What happens when a guard goes nuts? It's happened before. What happens when a teacher goes nuts? Would you be shocked if a teacher shot up his/her own classroom? Probably, yet we aren't shocked when a teacher cums on cookies & feeds them to his students (Los Angeles - Mark Berndt).

You think freedom looks like schools with security fencing & armed guards just like a prison? It's disgusting we are even entertaining the thought.

I've been hearing a commercial for this wristwatch for your kids to wear. Lets you track them, alarms if removed, and alarms if they go outside whatever set perimeter you make. Then off to the prison camp looking school with armed guards. Make sure we control what food they are allowed to bring in to the schools. No snack foods, processed foods, chips, cookies, or sodas.

I don't know anything about accessing mental illness resources in the States, so can't comment on that. However, the STIGMA attached to mental illness also has to be reduced. We need to start treating people with mental illness the same way we do physical so we can have open dialogue. Think about it...if you're diagnosed with a physical illness you don't hide in shame. You tell people, you discuss it, you research treatment options. Diagnosed with mental illness you do the opposite, because you know how people will treat you if you admit to being "crazy". What would the reaction be here if someone said they were bi-polar or had some sort of mental disorder...they'd be vilified. But if they mentioned a physical disorder "we're here for you man".

As for comparing guns to cars, etc...ridiculous. Same with using Mexico as an example. What about Canada? We have gun control, and we have far fewer gun related deaths. The mass shootings that have occurred here have also in most cases been illegal handguns smuggled in from the States. I think it's a pretty simple math equation. More guns = more gun deaths, and vice-versa. And BOF, it's much easier to subdue a knife weilding maniac than it is someone armed to the teeth...

On the funding side... Someone mentioned National Guard. Well we got hundreds of thousands of fully trained, combat and security experienced personnel due to the decade in Iraq/Afghanistan. Many of which are struggling to find and hold meaningful employment...

How much of a shift in state and federal defense funding would it be to establish a school resource officer program? Rather than protect someone else's brats who hate and want to kill us... how about protecting our own for once??

How difficult or costly would it be to dress Guard's men/women in civilian clothes, properly armed, trained in our schools. There's plenty of personnel to rotate... they already have plenty of weapons and defensive resources, communication infrastructure, etc... Hell we've got fleets of Humvees parked all over the nation getting minimal use... a quick paint job to mirror local law enforcement or Dale Earnhardt Jr's paint scheme and park those out front of every school. This puts no strain on local law enforcement nor school funding...
