Funny, but this one about recording is borderline depressing...
Yeah it is actually.
Gawd, I hope vinyl makes a huge comeback!
Trolls take heed...LOG OUT & FUCK OFF!!!
Vinyl sounds great if you have good pressings that aren't worn. I can remember getting frustrated in the late 70's because the pressings were too thin and even warped. My dad bought some russian records when we were in the Soviet Union and man where those heavy duty. Nice and thick and flat. They played great. I wished Warner Brothers put out records that good because their pressings were shit in the late 70's and 80's.
I could always remember deciding to leave the Dolby System on or off. It seemed to muddy up the dynamics of the music so I usually would leave it off and crank it. My dad had four six foot electrostatic speakers (the same kind you see at the end of The Doors movie when Morrison is saying goodbye) driven by two McIntosh 240 tube power amps. Those things were boat anchors. The preamp was McIntosh as well. We had a pretty good sized living room and that system sounded great.
Some of that high end stuff made in the 1960's was built like a tank and sounded great. I still have those two 240 power amps but my parents sold the speakers. They were still working fine after all those years. The preamp went bad.
Rush's Witchhunt sounded great cranked on that system.

No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!
I sold my Dad's McIntosh amp after he died....was an early 70s solid state version, but even so it sounded incredible.
I actually had no use for it because it had it's own "sound" so to speak. Not transparent enough for me.
But was cool to have one for awhile.
