Dunno if krokus could be labeled as a hair band but they had a pretty good sound, few good songs.
The singer for krokus should have replaced Bon Scott .
Bon is irreplaceable.
you and me both know.
It is true that King's X do not deserve to be lumped in with the likes of, say, Warrant, but, they rose up during that time and catered to the same audience, for the most part. People knew that they were a band with more depth and talent than many others of the time, but they weren't quite alternative either. They had the look and the hair of the hair "movement" so to speak.
Dug is awesome. When they hit it with "Over My Head" I remember thinking, damn, check this guy out. Lefty bass player tuned way the hell down, singing with soul (something severely lacking back then) belting out Roth-esque screams while sporting a Mohawk and a Jimi Hendrix marching band jacket. Under fucking rated in my book!
You are too fixated on the visual. When really it comes down to the root fact that these are musical bands, and the music/sound is the foundation. Yeah they all looked pretty much the same, but when you were in your car playing the cassette you couldn't see them, just hear them. It's there that the fate & length of their careers were determined.

Dude, they were GROWN MEN in spandex, LIP STICK & MAKE-UP singing about their cocks to other GROWN MEN!!!
Well, I don't know if he wrote it or not (as far as I know, Angus & Malcolm did). But he DID record a version of the song with the band, which was released as a single in Australia. There's even a video for it.....

That video looks like someone photo shopped Angus into a sweet gig
So that's 30 odd year ago , he still looked good for his age . He had that cool biker thing going on.

RIOT. Always liked these guys, even though they never really hit the big time. They had a lot of bad luck.
Bulletboys cover of the Tom Waits tune, " St. Christopher " was awesome. Don't know much else about these acts mentioned in the thread.
At the time, I just figured they are mostly just a bunch of third rate pansey assed posers and never bothered to check them out.
But I have recently taken a liking to Skid Row, after seeing Sebastion Bach on the Canadian comedy show, " Trailer Park Boys ". Some of their stuff is pretty good. Their mini cd of cover tunes wasn't that bad.

Kings X was the anti-hair band. They arrived during the peak of the hair era yet delivered fresh music of depth and substance while their peers were singing about partying and sex (not that there's anything wrong with that).
King X is one of the greatest rock groups of our generation and Gretchen goes to Nebraska is their Masterpiece
King's X rules. They're one of the best live bands I've ever seen too.
I sang with Kings X on their Ear Candy tour in Hartford. I had been in the front singing along when DUg heard me and passed the Mic down and we began a back and forth passing the mic to each other. At the end He pulled me up on stage for the encore. I sang Closer to home by Grand Funk.
Pretty cool. At the end Jerry Gaskill got out from behind his kit to shake my hand. Awesome.
Glad Jerry recovered from his recent heart attack, too!
He's such a musical drummer. His parts not only hold it down but orchestrate the tune
Oh, and AC/DC were never a hair band, you cretins.
Oh Yeah, Krokus. They were o.k. too. I saw them open up for Nazerath back in '81.
They started out good, with, " Hardware ", " One Vice At A Time ", and, " Headhunter ". After that, I lost track.
But AC/DC definetly got the right guy after the late great irreplacable and legendary Bon Scott. R.I.P.

Yeah, why the fuck is AC/DC in this thread?
This is all about shame-inducing music, certainly not about one of the best bands of all time.
Get your shit straight!
Cheers! :bottle:
For those of you who thought this sleazefest of a thread could not sink any lower... cadaverfuck just posted in it, so NOW you're right.
Whip out the Bon Jovi all you like, we've already hit rock bottom at mach 4.
Cheers! :bottle:

I would like to mention a finnish band formed in 1979, they influenced many bands named in this thread.
Hanoi Rocks.

Oh Yeah, Micheal Monroe rocks. His last album was wicked. I still have the old viynal albums of " Two Steps From The Move ", and " Back To Mystery City ".
I actually met him once, briefly at a DIO/ Yngwie Malmsteen concert in December of 1985. He is one of the coolest looking rock n roll guys ever, and still kicking it nowdays.
You can YouTube him and find some cool live footage dating back to 1979, and from Seattle last year, as well as jamming on saxaphone with Aerosmith, and Duff's new band, Loaded. He is one cool cat.
