Got my picture taken as a kid by this statue at the old Busch Stadium every time we went for a game.

      RIP, Stan the Man

I visited that very statue at about six o'clock this morning to pay my respects alongside lots of teary-eyed people . It has become a makeshift shrine with loads of memorabilia , flowers , notes , A-B beer cans and bottles , etc. There is a police presence and barricades around both Musial statues but everyone has been respectful . Nothing but reverence .
This mornings St. Louis Post-Dispatch has an impressive full front page tribute and an additional 14 page pull-out section dedicated to Stan The Man .
The opening day ceremonies will never be the same . This will be the first without Stan since 1941 .

Ditto. I assumed he died before I was born. I thought he played much earlier. Like in the days of Ruth.
