Gibson Announces New "Government Series" Limited Edition Guitars

300 Les Pauls, 100 SGs, 100 Flying Vs, made using rosewood returned by the government from the Gibson factory raids. Funny...they come with Gibson "Dirty Fingers" pickups.

Always liked the Gibson Flying V. Some day when I have a little extra money I would like to buy the "wee vee" mini version just for some fun. I have the mini les paul already.

Personally, I prefer a late-70's headstock on V's... But that's a nice lookin' axe, nonetheless...
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

Beats the crap out of me.

Seems that the gummint found the only real problem was that Gibson was not performing due-dilligence on the origins of the wood seized in the 2009 raid. This rosewood for these axes was from the 2011, which was all returned to Gibson.

Personally I think axes look better with Chrome hardware.

It's almost always a great idea. Not so much on that V, the chrome-silver ratio seems off.

When I first heard they got raided by the feds I thought it might be due to shady consumer practices. Today in the US they just send armed SWAT teams in for everything. If your dog is running around the neighborhood off a leash they kick down your door and stick a MP5 in your face.

The guy in my avatar is Jonathan Quayle Higgins III. He's british so he may have spent some time in Hong Kong but he currently resides at the Robin Masters estate in Hawaii.

It all shows the power of the Gibson brand name. People rip them a new asshole on the poor quality control but yet they still want one.

Dunno, but it's the standard mahogany/maple cap body as a regular standard (pretty sure the top is thinner, but who cares) and it's got something I've always wanted...standard inlays on an Ebony board. I ♥ it, wish it came in none more black too...

And you know I'd change out the pickups...

I changed the bridge. Gibson's wraptail to Schaller...

Schaller was originally black. I removed the coating because I don't like black hardware(I have 16 pieces in stock and they are all black...........are you guys wondering now what my job is?)

I'll have to dig it out and take a photo of it. Nothing fancy. It's a SG standard in cherry finish with a black pick guard. What I like about SG's is I'm a Strat player and I can go to an SG and it feels right. Les Pauls just feel wrong. I also have an Epiphone G-400. I rewired it and put new pickups in it. It's a pretty good sounding and playing guitar actually. The original wiring was crap.

You can get paid to horde and hate black hardware in Japan?
