Just posted this vid in a reply to the 'Ed in the Studio' thread, but thought I'd post it in its own thread.
Anyone seen this stuff before?

THINK LIKE THE WAVES
I just saw it the other night on one of the 3 VH FB pages I got going. Talk about finding a chunk of the Holy Grail. That's some good stuff. Do you think that the band had roadies planted on the floor with cameras some nights to tape the show so they can make choreography decisions for future shows based on them? Could a fan really sneak in with an 8 mm. movie camera, use it and get away with it without getting a whooping by security?

That's some raw stuff there. Pretty awesome
More valuable than the Zapruder film.....they were a wrecking machine back then.
Hey psycho, please get out of my Van Halen T-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up.
Wowza. Never seen that before - killer find!
My karma just ran over your dogma.
Perhaps overlooked because it's from Oakland 1981? Seeing Sinners' Swing at 1:22 was a bit amazing though; I'm not sure they performed that live very often. Too bad it's a montage of snippets...

Wow! I'm speechless.

That jump @4:13 was sick, looked high as hell!!
You need to do something...
I get so anoyed with this band when I see this stuff. They have live stuff up the ass I would think in storage. I guess Ed is waiting for us all to be in our 70's when he realises that his fans have been wanting it forever. I don't get it. All the other older big bands drop something once or twice a year at this point.
Yeah, that's what it is.
Got that footage as part of a trade back in the late 1990s.
There is footage out there (along with audio) of virtually an entire 1981 show shot on videotape from what appears to be the mixing board perhaps twenty rows from the stage in the center of the arena in terms of vantage point: it's just the one camera angle and the band is somewhat distant...certainly more distant than the Chicago 8mm footage, but it's an entire show and the camera itself was obviously on a tripod, because the shot is steady throughout. Also, the entire stage set from stage left to stage right is included. It's the 1981 Memphis show, if memory serves me correctly.
Scramby eggs and bacon.
Thats what I'm saying!!!!!
