Nah, it's not the same, surely? Unless Anheuser-Busch succeeded in their mission to kill off the Czech Budvar (also called Budweiser). I think the Czech one is probably not allowed to use the name "Budweiser" in the US. There were legal challenges over this in the 90s, I think.

I will consult the Beer Companion (by Michael Jackson, 1993. No, not that Michael Jackson - but like the Buds, same name, different thang) - here you go: "Budweiser" was a generic name for any beer / lager brewed in the Czech town of Budweis, and Anheuser-Busch obviously made it their own in the US.

Yeah, I'm well aware that the Czech Budweiser is a completely separate beer from the US swill called Budweiser. What I was saying is that the picture Vain posted above of the beer called "Czechvar" was the Czech Budweiser rebranded for the US, and since the label says St. Louis (headquarters of Anheuser-Busch), then ironically enough, the "real" Budweiser is now distributed by the makers of the fake Budweiser, at least within the US.

And even though it's more than likely watered down (as most imported beer is in the US) it probably STILL tastes better than the Anheuser-Busch products.

Just the same though, I'll stick to the microbrews... or even the stuff that old Joe Kennedy produces in his backyard still before I'll drink anything with a St. Louis label on it.

I've had worse. I've never liked the taste of beer period before I tried a San Miguel in the Philippines. It was so fucking hot there regular piss might have tasted good if it was cold enough. My brother used to buy Busch when he wanted to drink so no one else would want one. I haven't had a beer in over a year. There was a place called Red Neck Heaven in Texas I used to enjoy drinking at. Great prices and scantilly clad girls always make me thirsty. I tried a "minnow shot" there too. A shot of whatever with a live minnow swimming in it. The first shot I tried the minnow leaped to his death before I swallowed it. It jumped out when I went to take the shot. I tried it again and got it down but I could feel it wiggling on the way down.

I got sick on Boones Farm tickle pink and accidently punched a girl upside the head when I was seventeen. I was swinging at her boyfriend and he ducked. He took a swing at me and I ducked so she got another one upside her head. She was between us in his dad's car. We weren't mad at each other, we were just drunk. She gave me a black eye another time. I was making out with her girlfriend and she sucker punched me. I didn't know she was a dyke before that. Then I barfed on my friends dad's shoes when he opened the back door of the car to see if I was ok when we got home. I still can't stand the taste of wine. I had a hangover for days after that incedent.

I used to drink until I blacked out on a daily basis. Kessler's Whiskey was my drink of choice but I've been known to do a few beer bongs once in awhile. I'm lucky I never got alcohol poisoning. I quit just in time. My former drinking buddy got shot for stealing a burrito when he was drunk a month or so later. He stole a case of beer earlier so the clerk shot him when he went to leave after eating the burrito in the store. He made it home and dropped dead in the doorway from loss of blood.

That´s right, I would like to clarify that for making the money conversion I used the black market US$ , it was around 9.5 pesos for 1US$ at the moment of my post.

There´s a new law here, that bans all citizens and foreigners for purchasing US$ or any foreign currency, as Venezuela.
Let´s say that a tourist arrives here without knowing that. If he changes US$ at the bank, he will receive 6,80 pesos for a dollar, that´s the official and fake rate. Or, if he pays that drink of 95 pesos with a credit card, is 14 US$ due to the official exchange rate.

When leaving the country, he cannot change any pesos left at the bank, he will need to find some dealer to change the money at the black market.

Now, 1 US$ is around 12 pesos at the black market, so that drink will cost around 8US$, if you change your foreign currency at the black market.
Last week, I tried to have a drink at the bar of one of the oldest five stars hotels, all the drinks started at 190 pesos. That is a rip off for unaware tourists, that´s around 27 US$ if they pay with a credit card, and I rip off for us, so we left, and returned to the Sofitel´s Bar, La Bibliotheque.
It´s a classic, very well located and has a very friendly staff, and they didn´t change the drink´s price yet, 95 pesos, 8 US$ now at the black market.

Saturday was Bloody Mary day.. Good shit. The Lauderdale Beach Hilton bar had a sampler. The other is from the W and was delicious! They make their own pickles which are fantastic.

I like a Bloody Mary but never more than one or two and at the beginning.

I like the cucumber idea don't see that too often here. Sometimes they put celery in.

I don't just dislike raw celery it actually really confuses me that many people don't.
