I think it's entertainment for Ford to watch or listen to the crazy fringe of the right wing. Liberals are actually pretty boring. You do get a better freak show on the right. One reason FOX kicks MSNBC in the ratings is MSNBC is boring. There is no showbiz there. Over at FOX you have beautiful women and O'Riley is the king over there because the guy loses his temper. You just don't know when he is going to snap or what he is going to do. Most people who watch TV today are idiots. Television programming is at an 11 year old level. Who puts on the better show gets the ratings.

FORD used to talk about all these Air America hosts and I'd be like "who?".

I think he really has ADD or maybe suffers from panic attacks. Usually people with real psychological issues find booze and alcohol help. That's why Duff from Guns and Roses drank so much. He suffered from panic attacks and never got the proper help and found booze helped take the edge off. People do substances for a reason and really to get them off the substances, you need to figure out the underlying problems. It can be unresolved abuse issues, depression, panic attacks or whatever. It's clear Glenn Beck has something wrong with him. He ran to drugs and alcohol and when he couldn't take that anymore he ran to religion. A strict one where you have to have at least one interview a year with the clergy about your lifestyle and lots of peer pressure to stay off the liquids and chemicals.

Maybe Beck needs to find a good shrink. I think that is his real problem.

LOL! That network tanked. Rachel Maddow and the Young Turks were on it. It failed because it was boring. Only the most die hard obsessed liberals listened to it. Rush Limbaugh has been successful over the years not so much for his political content. It's because he's dynamic. I remember my car was bing worked on. I never listened to AM in the early 90's. I borrowed a neighbors old Toyota and the radio was on Rush. In those days the guy was doing some crazy radio. He had these crazy jingles and he was all hyper and stuff. I pictured him as a big fat guy with grey hair and a beard with a few ketchup stains on his shirt smoking a cigarette. What got my attention was not the political content but the guy was doing some crazy radio and he was like an old school DJ. Rush isn't as good as he was in the old days. He's too political now. But if he sucked at radio, he would have failed in the ratings.

You have to put on a show to pull good ratings numbers. You have to entertain people. Sad but true.

Arnold Schwarzeneggar was a Republican and had zero political experience. He won the governors seat in liberal California. If he wasn't a big celebrity he wouldn't have a chance in hell. A celebrity, especially one who people think is cool will win the election every time regardless of their experience. People in our society put entertainment above everything else. They don't want substance or to be educated. They want to be entertained. That's why the powers that be want lot's of entertainment choices. While we are watching the basketball game or The Voice, they pick our pockets. It's why roman emperors provided bread and circuses. People were so distracted with that and felt good they were getting free food, the emperors could skim the rest of the treasury. It's like a casino. People will give you $500 but if they win $250 they are elated that they won. Mind games for the masses.

Nah, I can't listening to him for any length of time. These sample clips are all I hear of him.

Pretty much the case with all these right wing lunatics on the radio. I used to listen to Mush Limpdick back in the early 1990s. It wasn't entirely by choice... I was driving a delivery van to Aberdeen and back every afternoon, and it had a crappy AM radio that got only two stations. Country and right wing talk. So I got stuck with the one that didn't put me to sleep.

But back then, Mush was actually funny. Yeah, he was all about hating the Clintons, but it came off as comedy and entertainment, rather than the Oxycontin fueled rants that he is now.

And as far as Air America goes, it wasn't as much of a "failure" as you might think....

Al Franken is a Senator. Rachel Maddow is on a major TV Network. Thom Hartmann and Ring of Fire have their own TV shows. Mike Malloy is thinking about a TV show as well. Looking forward to that one.

The only thing that "failed" was the fact that radio station ownership in this country is controlled by right wing corporations, and they didn't drop affiliates because they failed, they dropped them because they succeeded. Willard Mittens Romney's Clear Channel took revenge on several affiliates after the last election, for example. And the other radio behemoths came up with the ridiculous "sports talk" format as an excuse to kill the rest of the progressive talk stations.

Jokes on them though.... AM radio is a dead format. So some of the founders of Air America came back with a 21st Century format.. You don't need an old radio, you just need an internet connection. Use your computer, use your tablet, use your smartphone, whatever....

Dude. Everyone is going to be on internet radio if they already aren't already. AM radio was dead in the late 80's. It was guys like Rush Limbaugh who brought people back to it. Progressives just don't pull big ratings. They never have. It's a niche.

                      Bullshit.

When Thom Hartmann was on in the mornings, directly up against Mush Limpdick, he beat the OxyMoron in the ratings in every market where they were both on the air.

Problem of course is that the number of those markets was limited. And that is entirely because of right wing corporate radio ownership.

Malloy owns his time slot too.... except nobody bothers to track night time ratings.

Bottom line - when it comes to radio, TV stations, or newspapers, they should be locally owned, and nobody should be able to own more than one in any given market.

My hell. All you progressives do is blame the right for every damn thing. Everyone has heard this same rhetoric for the past 40 years. Obama won office, Clinton won office, Carter won office. The congress has been mostly 50/50 but yet everything is the other half's fault. It's getting old and you guys offer no solutions. You guys are owned by the banks as well. Anyone who has a shot at winning office in the Democrat party is bought and paid for. Different rhetoric same shit. Go ahead and spew hot air on internet radio. It won't change a damn thing. In fact, it's sounding dated as hell.

The White House is already a bad joke. Having an experienced comedian and comedy writer as president might just make it a better joke.

Franken later went from doing a convincing impersonation of Mick Jager to impersonating a US senator. Frank man. He can impersonate anything. Why not impersonate the president of the United States?

I'm not exactly a fan, but we get his radio show here in Hell on occasion, and I notice he stands up to teabaggers and neocons a lot more on the radio than he ever did on TV.
