Great game last night...
Still...you have to be worried a bit about Boston hammering Carmona and Sabathia...
Should be another good one tomorrow night...
Of course...they had to freakin' ruin it...
It was a good game...so what did they say?
"It's like a Boston/New York game..."

Wait a minute..Cleveland is still in it?
GO ORIOLES!
It's a shame the O's are stuck in the East..if only they could get in a weaker division..of course, we would still need to win more than 65 games a year
Yeah...finishing over .400 would be a good start...
and yeah...it's the division...
You are gonna make me start pulling for the Sox, ya putz.
Go O's!
Um, uh oh Cleveland.
Yeah, they're in big fucking trouble.

And that's the end of that chapter......
I actually would have liked to see Cleveland win...why in the hell did Skinner hold up Lofton in the 7th...he scores easily on that play and who knows what could have happened after that.
Granted the flood gates opened in the 8th but..had the 7th gone differently..who knows.
next year again
I was sitting on the Monster just to the right of the Coke bottles...I couldnt BELIEVE that Lofton didnt score on that play.Originally posted by Fairwrning

They were starting to hit Okajima at that point, so maybe they were sure they would get him home more easily.
I really couldnt believe that Francona sent Okie out for the 7th. Beckett was warming and I though for sure they would use him to get to Papelbon in the 9th.
And then Okie came out for the 8th...

Cavs have officially clinched the Number 1 overall seed in the east, and Homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs.
This could be interesting.
Still waiting for a relevant Browns Team
Kinda pulling for Cleve in the East, my bulls are lucky if they make the playoffs.
Id like to see the Cav's somehow matchup & hopefully beat the Lakers.
Lakers dont look like they have any serious threat on the west IMO.
EUAS
why is everyone a laker hater man? pisses me the hell off! Cavs can't beat the Lakers period. We gave them their only homecourt loss remember that. On top of that Lebron always shuts down when up against the lakers. Teams are lucky Kobe doesnt turn into the Mamba like he used to.
ECF starts up tomorrow night. I gots my playoff beard going.
Go Cavs!!!

epic first two games.
we'll see what happens tonight in Game 3. Cavs need to take one of the two in Orlando to get back square on home court for Game 5
they suck this year....
Must-win tonight for my Cavs. From what I can tell from down here, the Cleveland fan base is in full-on, woe-is-me, Cleveland-is-cursed panic mode right now....
but a win tonight gives the Cavs a split in Orlando and ties things up heading back to the Q.
for all the talk of matchups and who's got who's number, it really just comes down to making some shots. the Cavs were 2nd in the league in 3-pt shooting this year but aren't shooting anywhere near their avg thru the first 3 games. It hasn't been for a lack of open looks, either.
West and Mo and Z make their normal share of outside shots (2's and 3's) tonight and the Cavs will tie it up. if not, they are in trouble.
I'm just talking to myself in here....
cool....
okay, now we're in real must-win territory. although, i'm sure Orlando is feeling a bit of pressure to close it out tonight and avoid going back to Cleveland for game 7
lets go cavs. need to see a Lebron-Kobe final
If I want any shit out of you, I'll squeeze your head.
The Cavs need some help. Lebron is phenominal, but I don't think that he will get a ring without Cleveland bringing in one or two more solid guys.
I think they need some interior defensive help. Z showed as a real defensive liability in this series against Howard. I think the Cavs got by throughout the year as an elite defensive squad because there is a real shortage of genuine low-post players in the league.
Against most teams, the Cavs' bigs were good enough within the overall team defensive scheme. However, against Orlando, they were either too slow (Z) or too short (Ben) to match up. Andy gave the best fighting effort, but even he is more of a 4 than a true 5 and was giving up size.
I think all of the talk of the 3-point shooting was a bit overblown. Sure, if Orlando doesn't shoot as well as they did, they would have lost the series, BUT, if Cleveland could have defended Howard better, the perimeter shooters wouldn't have mattered as much. You can't win consistently living and dying on the 3.
That said, I don't think a drastic overhaul is needed. Had Boston picked up a win in either Game 6 or 7, I think the Cavs would be gearing up for the Finals right now. (Boston matched up better with Orlando due to Perkins, but the Cavs would have likely outmatched Boston). Even given all of the matchup problems the Cavs had, it was still a very close series. Three games were decided on the final shot. Orlando won two of the three, and, therefore, the series. If Cleveland takes two of three by winning either game 1 or game 4, the Cavs most likely win the series.
So, yes, I would say they can look to add some interior defense and perhaps another wingman, combo-guard who can score a little, but can also defend bigger guards. I'm thinking of somebody to give the Cavs the option of playing a bigger backcourt against certain matchups, with either West or Williams out. You know, the type of player Pavlovic SHOULD be (that dude seriously looks like he's stoned half the time. if he could show any consistency, he'd probably be the first guy off the bench)
Was it me or did leBron show his ass a bit after losing that last game..straight to the locker room without shaking hands.skipped the press conference.
Had the Cavs won he would have been real fuckin quick to get to that press conference and talk about himself a bit.
I think LeBron was a bit of a prick, but I think that's a good thing. Yeah, he could have shown more sportsmanship, but I'm glad he's pissed off.
Too many of these fuckin' guys act like best buddies. What's wrong with acting like enemies? Larry Bird had no interest in shaking other guys hands, either. Fuck 'em.
The only reason this story got any traction is because the media have injected their sorry asses into the story once again. They are pissed that they were ignored, so they act like the guy just raped a puppy or something. Same shit is going on with the Browns' beat writers in Cleveland. The new regime fired all of the guys who were leaking info to the press, so now these guys have to work harder. Nothing worse in jounalism than when the press injects themselves into the stories.
Agree about the press...they get a bit pissy if ya ignore em...but as the face and leader of the franchise, the guy should have sucked it up and showed for the press conference. And I think a handshake isnt asking too much..hell, you can say " fuck-you" as you do it if ya want..
You guys think Orlando is a good matchup vs the Lakers?
just wondering opinions..
I didnt follow them much until playoffs.
If they keep hitting the 3-ball like they did against Cleveland, they can beat anyone.
I think the Lakers may have some of the same problems defending D12. Gasol is too soft, so they are going to have to try to stop him with Bynum. Don't know if that will work, though. If not, they'll have to double on him, then it just becomes ball rotation until they find the open 3.
If the Lakers get into that pickle and Orlando is hitting the 3, LA is in big trouble. Their only chance then is to outscore the Magic. If Kobe is on and he's getting offensive help from Pau and Odom, they can probably do it. But Kobe alone can't make it happen, just ask LeBron. If Orlando's hitting, Gasol and Odom need to score more consistently than Mo, Delonte, and Z did for the Cavs.
well, they sure as shit didn't shoot as well as they did against the Cavs. It made me sick watching Orlando laying bricks up there last night, when a week ago, it looked like they were shooting into the ocean.
the Lakers length (and athleticism - gotta point that out to differentiate with Big Z who has plenty of length, but it doesn't move very quickly) of their bigs does look to make a difference. it was harder for Orlando to get the ball into Howard cleanly
it really points out what the Cavs need to do to their roster in the offseason.
Orlando can come back if they regain their shooting touch, but I think they will struggle a bit more having not stolen Game 1 on the road like they did in the last series.
All i can say is that Orlando made Cleveland thier bitches. Wonder which team mate Lebron will blame now.
This might be a good finals, but in the end i think the Lakers will do it.
well, this is the wrong thread for this, but it's the only one where anyone's talking finals.
i thought the Magic were absolutely robbed by the men in striped shirts in Game 2.
last night, Orlando looked pretty good. I had flashback to the Cavs series with the way they shot the lights out.
Orlando still has a puncher's chance, but I think they absolutely MUST win both of the the last two (4 and 5) in Orlando. Maybe they can take one of two in LA, but I can't see them going back west and winning 6 and 7 on the road.
btw, anybody else really tired of Kobe's "angry face"?
you know, the one with the freaky looking underbite that he seems to be putting on for the cameras to show everyone how bad he wants it
I think the dude's got a serious complex about not winning one without Shaq. If they blow this one, he's gonna need therapy.
His "Bubba from Forrest Gump" face...you mean?
