On the one hand he doesn't care about the max deal, which is refreshing.
I couldn't walk away from a city after he was essentiallyin Miami during the Eastern Conference Finals and let your teamates and city down like that.
Just sad. Not exactly the stuff of legends.

Heat trade Beasley to the Timberwolves...
for a second round pick...
Fuck you David Stern...seriously...he wanted this shit to happen...and now he's fucking turning over every rock to make sure it happens...fucking Beasley for a 2nd round pick...what a joke...
I hope Pat Riley's scalp catches on fire...
In a phone interview with the AP, Gilbert saysOf course...he's those "people.""people have covered up for [James] for way too long. Tonight we saw who he really is."
This would have been a bit more powerful had he done it prior to the "decision..."
but he was hoping to sign the "chosen one."
In the same phone interview...he said LeBron "quit" during the playoffs...
Wow...this is really going to get fucking ugly.
Gilbert needs to watch himself...who the fuck wants to play for a guy that's going to sandblast you like this...
This just in...
Pat Riley is allowing his wife to become a whore, to acquire more money for his two new whores...
From a poster at ESPN...just to show you how fucking stoopid people are...
extremely unprofessional move by cavs owner - Stern should step in and lay the hammer down - makes the nba look bad overall - free agency is part of the game - cavs have nobody to blame but themselves - they will be lucky to win 10 games next year
Oh...that was unprofessional?
Oh, that makes the NBA look bad?
i really thought he'd stay. not really surprised that he left. still a fan of the game, i'll watch the games because i enjoy 'em (i'll at least watch the games that aren't on ESPN).
on one hand, he didn't leave for something like a $100,000 dollar raise per year. on the other hand...the organization has seemingly bent over backwards to cater to this guy, and probably his hoodrat mother, too. what happens after a year or two in Miami and the desired outcome doesn't happen? can the Miami media be as cutthroat as the NYC media? more importantly, how much pull does Gloria have in South Beach?
i like Gilbert. i like the open letter. but to me, he's still not really a Clevelander. and that's coming from someone who really has no interest in the Ohio vs. Michigan thing, at least college wise. Gilbert has plenty of income streams to back up his words, as long as he doesn't get bored i think he'll put a competitive product on the court. second round playoffs competitive? we'll see.
seems like most of the big moves have been in the East, but i think the West is still stronger. you know Kobe's itching for a threepeat.
someone said "it's one of those things where you'll remember where you were when it happened." so i was in a little dive bar for wing night with Grimes, about 8 beers in but she only charged me for three. story of my fuckin' life!

Yeah...but half their team left for fucking Kinston! The fucking traitors...
In all seriousness...what the fuck...
I blame it all on spED...the fucker...
This whole circus amazes me..
First off, being a Steelers I am sworn to hate all things Cleveland, but today I feel sorry for Cleveland sports fans. What a kick in the onions that must have been. The thing I have always admired about Cleveland sports fans is their loyalty to their teams. After all the crap they are put thru, most still support their teams. And loyalty leads me here...
LaBron in a punk. Cleveland doesn't deserve him. I mean what an ego on this guy. Holding a 1 hour press conference on ESPN to announce that he has given up on trying to win a title in his home town and now he needs to go somewhere else with better players. Could you even picture in your mind Bird, Magic, Dr. J or Jordan coming out and saying "Look, I am just not good enough to do it myself." And all this hub bub for a guy that has AS MANY RINGS AS ME!!!!! He quit in the playoffs, pure and simple. Bird, Magic, Jordan, Duncan, Kobe. They are winners. LaBron, not so much.
ESPN.... Don't even get me started. They had to preempt the World Cup Pimp Show to put on the NBA Pimp Show. Soccer's ratings haven't jump that much in the US I guess. And could you imagine if he chose the Knicks? Dear Lord! Listening to ESPN try to sell the Knicks as a "storied franchise" and having to listen to Steve Lavin continually refer to MSG as the "Mecca of college basketball" (and growing up in Indiana I find that personally offensive) is bad enough. It would be All New York All The Time. It would be like baseball season year around. I can hear the promo's now: "This week on ESPN: Sunday Night, the Jets vs. somebody, Tuesday Night, The Yankees vs. somebody and Thursday Night, the Knicks vs. somebody." UUUggghhhh....
Nights like last night are why I have a hard time getting into the NBA. That was disgusting. All of that to sell the LaBron brand. There isn't gonna be enough basketball to go around for these guys. The Celtics did something similar to this I know, but those guys were at a different stage of their careers. These guys are are still trying to sell shoes, phones and hamburgers. No one wants to by a shoe worn by a guy that is only averaging 15 points a game.
In the end, count me in as a Cavs fan now, or at least until they win their title that the owner promised. I want to see the entire city of Cleveland give "The Chosen One" the finger!!

There was a US Air Base in Nunavut in WWII...who knew?
I have been reading your excellent rants in this thread here and there. Great entertainment!
The only hope for the NBA at this point is an all-European team. With all of the punks with their Twitter accounts and personal "Branding"...things are only going to get worse.
How about an all-Sweden team?

This entire thing did the opposite for me than what LeBron intended it to do. It turned me off of LeBron...but made me respect D Wade a bit more. This guy did it right. Stuck with his team and got them to bring the big talent to him, not bail in search of a mini dream team somewhere else.
If LeBron were a true champion, he would have stayed in Cleveland and somehow got one of those other guys to join him....not the other way around. I thought LeBron was "the King"? Why is D Wade the one that keeps his throne then?
Just imagine if Jordan had finally gave up & said fuck it and joined the Pistons before he finally brought one home?

Love this quote by Charles Barkley: "In fairness, if I was 25, I'd try to win it by myself. Not technically by myself, but I would want to be the guy. ... LeBron is never going to be the guy."
He went from being a King to not even being the man on his own team....
Hmmm, where do I start with this
To Dan Gilbert:
Loved the passion! loved it. In fact, that may have been one of the best moments in Cleveland sports history. But now, I have to ask you to do something you're going to hate to do. Lose. I want you to fire sale the team and make it so bad, that you'll make the John Lucas led Cavs look like the past 7 years. It's going to be painful, you're going to see the Whammer/Blue Seats era cavs make a temporary comeback. Build through the draft, and go off of a philosophy, cater to that, not to a star player
To Byron Scott:
Hey, we're sorry about this, but at the same time, if theres anyone we'd start over with a head coach, it would be you, Pop, Larry Brown, or Phil Jackson. So, lets have and Gilbert build us a team like the old lake-show offense.
To Miami fan:
Words cannot express my seething hatred of you. FUCK AND YOU. You don't support your teams not playing football, and are in general assholes who could give a fuck about sports. Here's hoping Kosar buys the Panthers and gets a little payback on your asses. Oh, and I hated your asses long before you did this, see the 1997 world series.
To NYK/NJN fan:
Now you know how we feel. Don't worry about it, you guys have the fucking yankees! Plus the Giants and the Jets are still contenders in the NFL, and I think that Rex Ryan will do wonders.
To LeBron:
You'll never be on the level of Jordan/Kobe/Magic/Larry, hell, title-less players like Karl Malone I would rate high above you. You're rep. will never recover either, people throughout the NBA have seen you for the selfish egotistical douche that you truly are. You're D-wade's bitch now, always will be, and you're endorsements are about to dry up.
Also, the way you treated your hometown on national television was perhaps one of the worst things I've seen an athelete I've ever seen do. You're never welcome in Northeast Ohio ever again, You were never one of us either, don't you ever fool yourself. A real NEOhioan would have never pulled this shit. Enjoy playing for the Jersey-shore-esque retards that is now your fanbase
To the fans of Cleveland
We Survived, didn't we? If Modell, Elway, Mesa, and this asshole couldn't kill us off, nothing will. We don't quit after somethng like this, we get up, and cheer even harder. We still have the Browns, who could be on the upswing, Who knoiws what could happen this year! We still have the Tribe...err...well, to go watch, and most importantly, we have the Cavs and an Owner that is willing to spend money and legitally cares for the city, unlike, again a certain asshole professional athlete.. We'll still show up, we always will. Go Browns.

This is a fucking train wreck...a fucking train wreck...
Heat fucking TV...
Yo unchainme...
Did you respect DWade when he was in Chicago, using his kids, who are in the midst of one of the fucking craziest divorces, to lie to Chicago and the world and say he was considering going to the Bulls?
THEY FUCKING KNEW THREE YEARS AGO!
Chris Bosh just fucking said it, "I went home and thought about it for days and months...no...months and months..."
I have no respect for any of these guys. Thing is, once they start playing, and winning, all these big mouths ripping LeBron will start cleaning his ass with their tongues...
Unchainme (07-09-2010)
I'm getting an idea of what's happening on theclevelandfan, as I refuse to watch.
just unbelievable. No respect for any of these assclowns, none.
Only bright spot, is windy tweeting we're getting 2 no. 1's from Miami and 2 no. 2's
FUCK FLORIDA.
I hear now he's going on a rant about how the heat org. is now about family and all this bullshit
unreal
Dan Gilbert bent over backwards for him and his family, always gave them seats, made sure they were well accomadated
un-fucking-real
HEY MICHAEL WILBON, STILL WANT TO CALL GILBERT A CREEP NOW, YOU BALL-WASHING FAGGOT?
Last edited by Unchainme; 07-09-2010 at 09:58 PM.
Now, just sign the deal...LeSuck, who fucking lied again...blathering that he wouldn't ask for a sign-and-trade...gets a sign-and-trade...
Cavs will get two first round picks and two second rounders. Of course, how good will the first rounders be...
and they get a 16 million dollar trade exception...
I really, really think they are going to use that exception...and the acquired picks...to go after either CP3 (likely) and/or Carmello...
Yeah...that's what LeBron said...
Miami is about family, and that's what he's all about...
Windhorst believes the Cavs are going to go after a significant piece...
Spike Lee...
"Teams can't help the Heat out here."
I fucking agree...stop helping Pat fucking Riley and his greazy, pussy-wop head.
Derek Fisher is going to meet with Riley...fucking perfect...another douchebag...
Here's what you do.
first off, LeBron. Kiss that number retirement good bye.
2nd off. every last record in the book for the Cavs is officially out, and given back to Mark Price/Daughtery/Z.
As much as I disagree with Dan Lebatard, he nailed it on ESPN when he stated that Miami does not deserve a team like this. The guy's thrust was that cities like Cleveland have earned their heroes through the fan's unending support. I believe that Gilbert has behaved in an unctuous manner here, and I truly wonder about his motivations in all of this. His words have seemed almost self-serving, when you consider them.
Look, do not blame this on Miami, as the anger is entirely misdirected. Ultimately, we (as a sports town) could care less if LeBron, Wade and Bosh played here. Oh sure, if the team is successful, we will jump all over it. But if Wade had left, no one would have really cared. Seriously, the area is that shallow, and people would simply move on to something else. And this was the point that Lebatard was making: That the area is unworthy of such spectacle.

You know what angers me about Miami?
That fucking punk bitch in the Miami bar that came running up to the camera after LeDick announced, and did his fucking grade-A impression of 'boy-band machismo.'
If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was fucking WARF...but he's in New England...
Jesus H. Christ, what to say.... OK, let's see....
Strictly in the BASKETBALL point of view, I have to agree with his decision. Cleveland NEVER game him the tools to honestly become a championship team. He never got his Garnett, his Gasol, his Ginoboli, etc... And after Bosh pretty much blew the Cavs off, that was pretty much it, he was gone.... Quite frankly, even if he would have stayed, I still don't know if the Cavs ever win a championship while he's there.... The Cavs just never scared me that much....
Now having said all that, the way he handled it was complete fucking bush league. You couldn't call the Cavs and let them know your decision ?? You show hardly any remorse at all ??
Besides that, Jim Gray had probably the most horrendous interview of all time.... And, the Boys and Girls Club of fucking Greenwich, CT ? Like the whitest community in the country ??
The whole thing just sucked....
But what do I know....
Don't worry boys, my Lakers will whoop their ass, even if they make it out of the East....
Hey Jackass! You need to [Register] or log in to view signatures on ROTHARMY.COM!
The fact that the Bosh blow off was orchestrated...there was never a chance for anyone to end up in Cleveland, because this was pre-ordained years ago.
As far as putting together a team, my guess here, and why Gilbert wants to hire a hit-man, is that he allowed Queen LeBron to push the buttons to acquire players throughout his tenure...IE...over the past three years...he was likely telling Danny Ferry that to keep me, we need to keep getting better..."sign this guy, sign that guy."
Look at their moves. They could never sit back and let contracts expire like the rest. The continually signed players using expiring contracts in trades, or signing other players to fit a mold, instead of taking a year off...clearing cap space...and going after another max contract. This is what makes all this that much more intolerable. LeBron put the Cavs in the bind to not be able to sign players.
Now, I will say that if that scenario is true, and I have to think it is, then a lot of the blame can be put at the feet of Gilbert himself for allowing the fucking LeBron show run rampant...IE...his peeps in the locker room, building a complex in LeBron's backyard...and the rest.
Had LeBron just come out a few weeks ago and said, Wade and Bosh are my friends, and we've planned to try and play together for the past four years. If I can make that happen in Miami, I will, because Cleveland won't be able to do it....
I'd have still wanted to ring his neck, but I could respect that. The fact that he ran this whole thing as though other teams actually had a chance, is ridiculous. I agree VA...that fucking show...well...you saw what I think.
As for the Lakers...this is ironic to me. Someone asked Mike Greenberg who the most popular player in the NBA was...and after stammering through some players...he said..."Could it be Kobe Bryant?"
After Thursday night...I'd say yes...
Cavs likely to go after Al Jefferson...which...I suppose is a start.
...They'll still need a center...
...and still need to start working towards getting another big piece. If you add Jefferson...
...and say, although a longshot, but say, make a deal for CP3, you can contend in the East for sure.
Then continue adding....
I just don't know that anyone would want to stay with the Cavs at this point...gonna be tough folks...gonna be tough...
There's also talk that the trade could involve Jonny Flynn...
but...
I don't know...Flynn is represented by Leon Rose...LeCunt's agent...
Hey, the fucking Tribe won...that's something...
beat the Rays...hell...a florida team...
figures...
