    Van Halen covers

Why does Kidvegas and the other sheep always bring up how Van Halen did covers? So what.Led Zeppelin did covers too so did The Doors, Black Sabbath etc.So does Van Hagar you Dipshit's. Maybe they don't record them but they play them live, also when Spammy sings Dave's songs that's playing covers. On a brighter note here's a nice picture.

Let's add Metallica(Garage Day's+ Garage Days Revisited) to that list and how about that new Rush Album all covers. Give them(the sheep) enough rope and trust me they'll hang themselves.

It's due to Kidvegas and others long-term excess glue sniffing. Sheep also have memory problems, according to animal husbandry scientific research studies.
Hey you Van Dutch guys. Your names Neil & Bob or is that what you do!

the beatles started out playing covers,
    so did the stones.
    sorry if someone mentioned this,
i didn't bother reading the whole thread.
most bands begin by playing songs they know and love.

Kid Vegas and the other sheep just don't have a wollen leg to stand on when it comes to the definitive and only version of Van Halen that mattered.

    Sam wasn't in it.

    Dave was.

What's going on with Ed and Co is second-rate to what should have happened 8 years ago - a full blown reunion with Dave.

The sheep are settling for second best, just like they always have when it comes to Van Hagar.

    They know it.

Really all there is to it.

Although covers, they have taken them on in their own style, like You Really Got Me - It's heavier and I think faster than the original.

I can't say I appreciated all the cover tunes on Diver Down, but what band can match the success of VH when it comes to cover tunes? Dave's ideas probably, and Eds innovative work set them apart from run of the mill covers.

Those are only covers if he plays them on his solo tour. Those are Van Halen songs and he is in Van Halen so they aren't covers.

Did he write those? No. Ergo, he's doin' covers.
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

If Velvet Revolver did a Guns n Roses or a STP song....would that be a cover?

    those are DLR's words.

    He's singing covers.

    and it's OK

they open and close with classic.

then they play "when it's love" while you're walking to your car.

question:what rock bank closes with a ballad?

    answer:none

If those are covers, then anytime Dave performs a Van Halen tune, he is performing a cover since he didn't make the music.

Dave wrote the words , he cowrote with Ed, he can do whatever he wants with them , there part his. that's not covering. Covering is when you had nothing to do with the song. VR doing STP or GNR would be covering because its a different band and there covering those songs from there original bands. My opinion. Here's something to look at.

So Eddie, Alex, and Michael had nothing to do with any of those songs?

I said he cowrote with ed. What I've always read is that alex and mike really didn't give any input. but like Kiss they split the money four ways so everyone was happy.

Van Halen should of put Beerdrinkers & Hellraisers on Diver Down instead of pretty woman or dancing in the street. They jam on that song

The reason Van Hagar doesn't do covertunes is because of how bad they are. At least VH covertunes kicked ass.

Let's look at Van Hagar cover tunes -
Apolitical Blus (OU812) - diahrrea on an album of crap, wouldn't have mad it on VD3
Won't Get fooled Again (RHRN) - Possibly Worst WHo cover tune ever
Rock-n-Roll (LWAN) - John Bonham glad he is dead so he didn't have to listen to this
Wild Thing (radio simulcast of LWAN concert) - so bad it didn't make the video

So using that logic that when sammy sings DLR era tunes in VH they are cover tunes..... Everyone in DLR's current band line up is a COVER BAND.

    Wait...so if a bassist is replaced in a band...then that band...is performing a cover...of their former song...wait...

Look...Dave's voice and Eddie-Boy's guitar were created to compliment each other. They each may team up with someone else, and it may, or may not, sound good..but it can never be as good as when they are performing against each other. Neither Dave nor Ed sound as good as when they are competing against each other for the audience's attention. Spammy's voice and personality are not as much competition as Dave's, therefore Eddie's playing is not as inspired.

This is a dumb argument. I usually don't like covers. I always give VH a pass, cause they can cover stuff in their own style and still make it sound good.
