Yes, and yes. I recommend the Peterson Stroboclip, and the price has come down on them, think they're only like $60 now. There's less expensive ones, but Peterson is still pretty much "THE" name in tuners. That, and some of the other ones are plastic, theirs is built like a tank.

We've been getting into a lot of acoustic based songs lately, since our guitarist got a Humming Bird, and while using the tuner's mic is working out OK.......it'd be nice to have a more accurate reference!

He doesn't have a pickup installed in the acoustic?

He should. Especially if he ever plans on playing it onstage



You can also get onboard preamps with tuners for acoustics

He has another acoustic for live that has a bridge pickup in it!

The Humming Bird gets two condenser mics on it for studio.......a pencil one on the neck and a vocal/instrument one for the sound hole. Blended together it sounds amazing!

The main room is so bright that it just sounds like butter melting!
