That's what I said long ago...
That's what I said long ago...
Just to summarize this ELVIS says he doesn't have a tuner but agrees you do need one if you do gigs.
So basically all we've learned from him in this thread is that he has been playing in his bedroom for 35 years and it's quiet in there...
Plus that he knows more than anyone else here because he just does - OK?
you guys and girls with big fretted shred guitars will know what i'm on about setting the intonation 5 or 10 % of a semitone flat...
bet it sounds great!!
I'm not sure having his teddy bear as lead singer works, maybe one of the other soft toys should step up to the mark...
He is so serious about claiming to be able to do this he actually does it just to prove to himself that he can?
Too much time on his hands, apparently.
And, not enough brain power to actually know that he is capable....he has to throw his pawnshop special out of intonation just to prove to himself that he still knows how to do it because he is incapable of actually "remembering" whether or not he can do it.
Yeah, that is about his speed.
lets summarize...........
3 points to set intonation.....12th fret harmonic, one string & fretted note at 12th fret all need to match........
TUNERS are essential to gigging.....yes, if you've played forever you can tune by ear....BUT a tuner gets it PERFECT...or as close to perfect as most guitars get
What good is tuning by ear if you are going to subject the audience of 5 to the high-volume sounds of you taking 5 minutes just to tune a string by ear?
That is the other important reason to have an inline tuner (so you can tune SILENTLY, as well as accurately).
But then, Elbow can stand there in his bedroom with his Rockstar Combo Amp for 20 minutes going "dow...dowdow.....dow....dow...dow...dowwwwww....." and the only person it will bother is his husband. Or maybe not, if his husband is a stupid as he is.
And yes, I have a TU-2, and also an NS-1. And to round out my stompboxes, I have an original Ibanez TS-9. I have no need for anything else.

You should NEVER subject an audience of any size to audible tuning, it's disrespectful as well as amateurish.
Yeah, I gotta get me one of those...
my korg pitchclip was $20. it's plenty accurate enough!
btw, due to the inconsistencies of the standard western 12 tone row, natural harmonics don't always line up at their appropriate frets.
the maths and physics students understand this. if you'd like proof, get hold of an oscilloscope and compare 440hz to 220hz, or 880hz, harmonic and fretted.
ash out
And that matters how to Rock & Roll ??
Gee, Elbow-hack's ranting doesn't make him look like that much more of an idiot... NO....
Who gives a fuck ??
Meanwhile, I'm busy writing songs while you're sucking your own and everyone's dicks around you...
Sad...
well, i did mention it won't make 'freebird' sound any better...

What's up, brother Ash
