Ok binnie break down time .
It was great , more lotr than the first one and certainly more action packed .
Barrels out of bondage was very clever and funny , the kids loved it .
There was a bit of license taken here and there but I think that's called fiction and it's more of a leader to what happens in the rings than the book clearly was .
Trying on not to spoil it really tho most will have read the book , dol goldur was great .

Okay, I saw this last Sunday. IT WAS AMAZING!!! I just have no words for the awesomeness of SMAUG. He was perfect. Just perfect. So great. I hope you all get the chance to see this & fully enjoy him in all his glory. Here is another picture of him. Thoughts - I did actually enjoy it, I never saw the first film because the 3rd LOTR plus the reviews put me off.

The barrel scene was great - surely it will end up as a theme park ride.

The bit where the dwarf sleeps in through drinking and misses them leaving didn't make a huge amount of sense. Just heard an interview with the actor (James Nesbitt) and it was because he had to leave to do his TV show in the UK(Munroe)

No dwarf casualties at all?

Most dwarfs are Scottish or Irish - should I find that insulting?

When the new elf girl seems to fall for the sexy dwarf (who doesn't look like a dwarf and seems to have no prosthetics) did anyone else think of the Mini Me sex tape?



Orcs are big scary looking things but apparently very easy to kill.

Tim from the Office seems to be allowed to use the ring a lot more than Frodo before going mental.

Most wizard spells in these films seem to be 'Push someone backwards into a wall' spells - it's not exactly Penn and Teller...

All that gold must have seriously reduced the price of gold in Middle Earth.

In the book the dwarfs were a bit shitty and knew about the ring. In the film they don't so why do they send Bilbo down by himself?

They spend 20 minutes trying to elaborately kill the dragon which completely doesn't work really pissing it off to the point where it decides not to kill them but to fuck off to the town instead?

This Bard character who is the descendant of a guy who didn't manage to kill Smaug with the special arrow, do you think there is maybe just a tiny tiny possibility that he will use the one he just happens to keep in his kitchen to kill Smaug in the next movie?

I missed the Stephen Colbert cameo.



It would be interesting to see where the real sets ended and the CGI started...
