That is awesome. I have been using Waves plugins for years.
He talks about the drummer using a towel on his snare. I did that on a single song I was recording back in the mid-90s....for all of my recordings I program the drums, but for one song I had a part where I needed to have a real snare drum.....I just borrowed a snare drum and stand, miked the top with a Sure 57, and had a towel on the top head. Did 3 or 4 tracks in half an hour. Turned out great. -

There are so many great plugins for free as well on the net.
I got started with Waves when I got some promo bundle on a CD along with a sound card I bought. Never looked back. No bloatware. They do exactly what you tell them to and they do not color the sound. Absolutely transparent.
What is fascinating are the things he says he does. And the camera zooms up close to the screen so you can see exactly what plugins he is using (hell he says what he uses too), and what the settings are.
There is a lot of stuff like that on the net though. Great for learning how to improve mixing skills....Comment
