Pretty much. In my situation, I had a meltdown after my brother, father and a close friend died within one calendar year. I lost everything: my marriage, my home, my job and was able to keep only the friends I'd known for decades.
I don't wish the experience on anyone.

It amazes me when I run into people now, Chef, that tell me how bad their year is going. Sometimes they're right on the money. Other times, they should be thankful.
We lost our only son in January 2013. It was sudden and brutal. I've spoken to some good folks here about the ordeal.
I already appreciated the sacredness of children...and we now have a daughter, just turned one. I cannot express to you how much I cherish every second she's breathing and happy. We simply cannot face that kind of pain again...and it never gets better for our boy.
So, without trying to put too much seriousness into an idiot poster's stupid moment...you simply don't talk about people's children like that. You have no idea how you might be affecting other people who've seen so much more in life.

I can't imagine losing one of my kids.
The outpouring of support I got in real life from my friends here at The Army when dad passed 4 days after my birthday brought me to tears all over again. There's some really good people here.
Some friends of mine just lost their best friends, a young couple and their 8 month old son yesterday to a freak accident with a overpass falling on their truck. Each day is a gift. And none of us knows what tomorrow brings.

Obviously I haven't been around, so I didn't know your brother lost his fight. My sincere condolences, Angel.
I don't have kids and still can't imagine the thought of losing one. Losing a sibling would suck, also. Condolences to all.

At some point, we all deal with the loss of a loved one or ones... you can never be prepared. It's the most difficult thing in the human experience. Strength comes from finding a way back from that darkness to celebrate life again until your number comes up. Keep fighting to find your way... and don't forget to notice the sun shining on you even when things are pretty dark inside...
