lol...so on this subject. My strings are in tune with each other...I know how to do that. But fuck if I know if the whole set is way too high or low or what fucking key they're all in. I actually think they're all strung too high right now. So is what I'm doing worse than just having the whole shebang out of tune? And can you as an experienced player tell right away by ear if it's too high or low?

As an advanced hack, my recommendation is to loosen up the low E string to where the tension feels good to you and tune the rest from there. IMO, If you're not playing with other people it doesn't really matter if you're in E, D, etc... Just make sure your instrument is in tune to itself.

Thanks. If you've trained your ears, yes, you can tell if you're slightly sharp or flat relative to the note you're shooting for. But the only way to assure you're 100% accurate is with an electronic tuner.
