Cool. VAiN did a great job for this cover.
but I don't like to see the words "HEAVY METAL" on VH related books because their music is not metal.
Don't notice most of my posts are less than 2 lines...

I've heard Van Halen referred to as a Heavy Metal band over the years. I never got that. Metallica is a heavy metal band. VH was a good time, free wheelin, So-Cal, rock and roll party band. Heavy Metal is heavy and dark. Now come on Beautiful Girls is heavy metal?
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!
It's Rock music...
The term "heavy metal" is open for interpretation. Compared to what was on the radio at the time, songs like "On Fire" would definitely qualify.
I brought my pencil!!!
shut up elvis.
How insulting...
Is this metal enough?
Hahaha
Growing up, I saw plenty of print that lumped Van Halen in with the "Heavy Metal" genre. The 80s was really when the different genres of music began to splinter into sub-genres. Yes, Van Halen were "rock", but, so were Journey and U2.
Rush wouldn't be considered "Heavy Metal", but they, like CVH, were accepted by the "Metal-Head" community back then...it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to see pins or patches of either band, alongside those of Maiden, Dio, or Priest.
I was fortunate to grow near a college town, as I had several places to find import books, magazines & music. Along from the usual suspects like Creem, Circus and Hit Parader, mags like Kerrang! and Burrn! would regularly feature the guys...even during their lost years.
I guess the best example would be the US Festival...they headlined "Heavy Metal Day".

...and looking at the flipside of it, Metallica toured with LVH on their "Monsters of Rock" tour five years later.
