Burglar shot in home invasion after scuffle with owner; 2 flee
A man who broke into a Smith County home Friday was recovering from at least one gunshot to his backside after homeowners opened fire as the burglar and his accomplices tried to flee, Sheriff Larry Smith said.
The man underwent surgery, and two other burglars were being sought in the home invasion, he said. No charges were expected against the homeowners.
“That will ultimately be a decision for the Smith County District Attorney’s Office and a grand jury, but at this time I do not see this office pursuing any charges against the homeowners,” Smith said. “We are actively searching for the other two suspects in this case, and we think we might have one identified.”
Smith said his office received a 911 call about 5 a.m. Friday of a white male shot near the 14000 block of U.S. Highway 271 North.
Deputies arrived to find the man gone. It is believed the man and two black males went to the home to burglarize it about 4 a.m., Smith said.
“The home owners, a husband and wife, were awakened … due to their dogs barking,” he said. “Upon further investigation by the male homeowner, he observed the individuals outside of his garage. He then woke his wife up, and both retrieved firearms and returned to near the garage where the individuals were located. A scuffle ensued once the male homeowner asked all of the individuals for their identification and told him he was calling the police.”
Smith said that after the homeowner and the white male wrestled, the burglar tried to flee, and the homeowners opened fire.
“The alleged burglar was struck in the buttocks area, most likely with a large-caliber handgun,” he said.

Arthur M. Lewis may be elderly, but criminals are learning the North Palm Beach man is no easy mark.
The 89-year-old decorated World War II veteran foiled an armed robbery attempt Saturday afternoon at his Lake Park jewelry business that left a 44-year-old suspect with six gunshot wounds, but no loot.
Jervis will be arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail once he recovers and is expected to face charges of armed robbery to a business, felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and armed burglary.
Court records show that Jervis has been arrested 20 times in Miami-Dade and Broward counties since 1989.

Nick, how many things are wrong with the fact that you had even state that. I’m getting old because I can't remember if it was a nine year old boy in Massachusetts that did the same thing a couple of years back.
Would you let your nine year old son shoot full automatic? No. Would you let your nine year old daughter should full automatic? No.
I wouldn’t let a 48 year old man should full automatic, anything if he’s never fired a weapon before. Muzzles walk. And if you don’t know what that means, don’t ever fire a fully automatic weapon.
The nine year old girl is from New Jersey. You have to be 16 operate a lawn mower in the state of New Jersey.
Put it this way: Ace Frehely shot himself with one of these.
Okay you actually made a sensible post
When they trained us to fire full auto on the old A1's in the Army, we had to lie down and fix a bi-pod to the front of the barrel and the main lesson of the exercise was how inaccurate weapons fired on full auto are and how difficult it is to control even small caliber rifles...

Family Of Adric White, Robbery Suspect, Outraged At Good Samaritan Who Shot Him
The family members of a robbery suspect that held a store employee at gunpoint in Alabama are lashing out at the Good Samaritan who shot him and stopped the robbery.
Adric White, 18, was shot five times after he allegedly tried to hold up a Family Dollar store in Mobile on Nov. 12.
FOX10 spoke exclusively to both the unnamed Good Samaritan and the family members of White. They're livid that their son was shot while pointing a gun in someone's face.
“If [the customer's] life was not in danger, if no one had a gun up to him, if no one pointed a gun at him - what gives him the right to think that it's okay to just shoot someone?” a relative, who wished to remain anonymous, told FOX10. “You should have just left the store and went wherever you had to go in your car or whatever.”
But when the suspect pulled out a gun at about 5:30 p.m., the Good Samaritan did too.
“He had the gun to his head. He had him on his knees,” said the Good Samaritan, who wished to remain anonymous. “I drew my gun on him and I said 'Hey don't move.' At that point he swung around and before he had a chance to aim the gun at me I fired. I didn’t want to shoot him.”
The man shot White five times. He was taken to USA Medical Center, where he remains in police custody.
The local news station had previously interviewed White's parents, but they called later demanding that the video not be aired.
White was out of jail on bond after previously robbing The Original Oyster House at gunpoint just a little over a month before he robbed the Family Dollar.
Accomplice Tavoris Moss, 19, was also arrested in the Family Dollar robbery.
“[Criminals] tend to think that they are the only ones with guns," the Good Samaritan told the station. "I’ve been legally carrying my firearm for a little over four years now, and thank God I’ve never had to use it until, of course, last night. It just goes to show it's good to have a concealed carry. You never know when your going to need it.”
Police said that the Good Samaritan who opened fire was justified and broke no laws.
5 times and he didn't die? If I shoot someone 5 times with my .45, they better fucking die!
This THUG CRIMINALS family can fuck off. A guy was just convicted here in Michigan, where he robbed a dollar store and murdered a young male employee and a young female employee in the process.

It's too bad somebody didn't have a CPL on this train last night.
It's a shame the cops tased him, instead of killing him. In my opinion, he refused his right to a trial, the minute he started stabbing people.

14-year-old reportedly shoots, kills intruder to protect sick grandmother
CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Police in Charlotte, North Carolina, said the second man involved in a home break-in that turned deadly near the Charlotte/Mint Hill border has been arrested. Another suspected intruder was killed when a 14-year-old inside the house shot and killed him Tuesday night, police said.
The two intruders, who police identified as 18-year-old Isai Delcid and his 22-year-old brother Carlos Delcid, attempted to break into the home on Rolling Fields Lane just after 5 p.m., according to investigators. Isai was shot and died at the scene while police said Carlos fled.
Officers arrested Carlos late Tuesday night and charged him with first-degree burglary.
Police said a grandmother was at the home with her grandson at the time. According to officers, the grandson shot and killed Isai.
The grandfather, George Wyant, said his 14-year-old grandson shot the intruder.
"It’s not something you can be proud of. But, I’m happy the way it turned out. Because my wife is getting over an illness," Wyant said.
Wyant said he heard about the break-in and shooting from a neighbor, and many neighbors are shocked.
Wyant told WSOC-TV that the suspects parked their car in the driveway, walked up the steps to his back porch and tried to get into his house through a back window. That's when he said his grandson came to the window and told them to stop.
The call came in at 5:14 p.m. The intruder was pronounced dead at the scene.

Assault Rifle-Wielding Cabbie Shoots Police Officer and Witness, Steals Cop Car
Three people are recovering from being shot after a routine traffic stop turned into a bizarre cop-car hijacking and police chase this morning. The incident started around 9 a.m. when a Miami police officer stopped a cab driver for speeding near NE 79th Street and Fourth Avenue. During the stop, the cab driver got out of the car with an assault rifle and began shooting according to NBC Miami.
"The offender attempted to murder our law enforcement brother," reads a statement from Fraternal Order of the Police president Javier Ortiz. "Our officer returned fire and a good samaritan provided cover and rescued him while the offender continued to shoot at him with an assault rifle."

Assault victim with concealed weapon stops bat-wielding attacker at east Yakima Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart was the victim of an unprovoked assault when a stranger picked up a metal tee-ball bat and struck him, according to Yakima police.
The victim was not injured, but he did have a concealed weapons permit, which he immediately put to use, police said.
A store security officer reported hearing a man in the sporting goods department yelling “Get on the ground!” and found one man pointing a pistol at another, who was lying on the floor.
Police arrived a short time later and arrested the 30-year-old suspect, who remains in Yakima County jail in lieu of $30,000 bail set Monday.
The incident took place about 11:20 a.m. Saturday at the east Yakima Wal-Mart.
The victim told police he did not know the suspect, nor had the two exchanged any words before he was hit by the bat, according to an affidavit filed by police.
A video from the store’s security system shows the victim shopping with at least three children. According to the affidavit, the video shows some of the children move out of view as a man is seen coming over, picking up a metal tee-ball bat from a rack and striking the other man in the shoulder with it.
The victim, who police said has had a concealed pistol license since March 2013, then pulled a .357 Sig Sauer pistol from a holster and pointed it at the suspect, the affidavit said.
The suspect is a transient and is being held on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Police: Teen shot dead after involvement in home invasion
GADSDEN, AL (WBRC) - Gadsden police say a home invasion led to a teenager being shot dead by a homeowner.
Police say a 17-year-old boy was one of three suspects who broke into a woman's home at about 3 a.m. Monday, April 13.
The woman told police the teenager held a gun to her head and raped her while the others ransacked her home.
She said two of the men eventually left her home, but the teen stayed behind, beat her in the head with his gun and demanded money from her.
The victim told police they ended up at a neighbor's home after she told the attacker her neighbor had her money.
Police say the neighbor called 911 when the woman and her attacker arrived outside his front door.
The attacker reportedly demanded the neighbor get off the phone, fired two shots into the air, and pointed the gun at the neighbor.
The neighbor, who was armed, fired a bullet into the teenager's chest, killing him.
Police say they questioned the neighbor at police headquarters but released him. The female victim was treated at a hospital.

Police: Homeowner shoots suspect in Md. home invasion
TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man is injured after being shot by a Temple Hills homeowner during an attempted home invasion early Wednesday morning, police said.
The forced entry happened around 1:50 a.m. in the 3900 block of Brinkley Road, according to Prince George's County police.
When officers responded to the scene they found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his legs. He was taken to the hospital in fair condition and has non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Authorities said the man tried to force his way into the home. The residents' dog alarmed them of the man who was trying to break in. The homeowner was armed with a gun and confronted the intruder. He shot at the man in fear for his life. Police said the homeowner and his wife were the only people home at the time of the incident. They were not hurt.
Investigation shows that the victims and the suspect do not know each other.

Two killed in Arlington restaurant shooting identified
Arlington police are still trying to process a horrific shooting scene that unfolded at a popular restaurant and bar, leaving a manager and the suspect dead.
Police flooded the Zona Caliente Sports Bar at about 6:15 p.m. after receiving calls of an active shooter.
The shooter James Jones, 48, and employee Cesar Perez, 37, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Lt. Christopher Cook said it all began when Jones walked into the bar, yelling and saying incoherent things. Perez, a manager, tried to calm him down before Jones shot Perez.
Then, a customer at the bar pulled out his handgun and shot and killed Jones. Police have confirmed the customer had a CHL and charges won't be filed against him.
“He made the decision to engage the shooter, fearing there would be other loss of life,” said Cook.

Five rounds from a .45ACP will fuck you up even if you live...
Shootings are strange. There was one police shooting were the person shots took two 40 caliber hollow points in the head and lived. I'm sure it messed the dude up pretty bad. I'm sure his life changed. Maybe he wishes those bullets killed him.

Hollow points are for flesh but tend to lose energy and lose effectiveness against hard surfaces. It could be the hollow-points mushroomed before penning his skull. I'm sure it badly ripped up his scalp in any case...
It's the hydraulic action of the water in the body tissues that open the hollow points. I know one bullet stopped just short of the carotid artery. So one bullet did penetrate.

Civilian shoots, kills gunman at Tumwater Walmart; 2 others hurt
TUMWATER, Wash. -- A shooting outside a Walmart Supercenter in Tumwater Sunday evening was the end result of a crime spree from the now deceased gunman, police said. That gunman was killed by a 47-year-old armed civilian in the Walmart parking lot.
Tumwater Police spokeswoman Laura Wohl said it all happened about 4:40 p.m. when officers were alerted to a possible carjacking near a gas station.
...
Tumwater Police said the suspect tried to carjack two cars in the Walmart parking lot at 5900 Littlerock Rd SW.
One driver was shot when he refused to give up his car, Wohl said. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. As of Monday, the man was in critical condition and in intensive care.
As the suspect tried to take a second car a "bystander here in the parking lot shot the suspect," Wohl said.
According to a police release, two armed civilians initially approached the suspect.
...
Adams said he ran out of the store and into the parking lot toward his car. The gunman, not far away, then shot a driver of a car he was attempting to steal.
Adams said he then saw a father with his family take out his concealed weapon and shoot the gunman dead.
That man is being hailed a hero by shoppers.
Yeah, that one was a little close to home. I was probably less than two miles from there when it happened.
Gunman was a wackjob from McCleary, which is a small town known for right wing wackjobs. Hell only knows what his problem was, but the facts are he had both a criminal record AND a record of being a wackjob, so again the main problem here is guns in the hands of people who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a gun. Ironically, he probably bought the gun at WalMart, since he obviously knew his way around the guns & ammo section of that store (he was attempting to shoot the locks off the ammo displays in the store to steal bullets)
As for the guy who took him out.... he also attempted to save his life after shooting him, and the article in the local paper mentions his medical training, so I'm guessing he was a military medic or something along those lines. Or in other words, somebody who actually was trained to use a weapon properly, and only when necessary. As it was in this case..... not surprised it took the Tumwater PD a while to show up. They were probably too busy with their speed traps.

SAPD: Suspect stealing trailer shot by owner
Police say the owner of a trailer confronted and shot a man as he was stealing the trailer
Police say the owner of a trailer shot a man suspected of stealing his trailer in a neighborhood on the southwest side.
Two men reportedly stole the trailer around 4:00 a.m. Thursday morning on Painted Horse Street, near Old Pearsall Road and War Cloud.
Police say the owner followed the two men and confronted them. Gunfire was exchanged and one of the men was hit by birdshot from a shotgun. The other man took off.
The man who was shot was taken to University Hospital in stable condition. Police are investigating.
The number of people with suicidal levels of depression has really increased over the years. I think some people have just had it and they hate the world so they are going to go out causing destruction and making the news. Many of these shooters are on antidepressant medication which can make some people suicidal.
I don't know how you quantify "suicidal depression", but the rate was actually slightly higher in 1950 that it was in 2016 according to one online stat site (actually it's slightly higher now when both male and female death rates are combined, but still almost identical). It's true there has been a recent 20-year spike edging back towards 50's levels, but that seems to correspond with the 2001 attacks and perhaps the resulting PTSD from the wars...
