They played part of " ATBL ", when I saw them a few years ago on the Rob Zombie / Alice Cooper tour. They put on an awesome show.

Shit, they ain't ever going to mod me. I'm the only non mod that posts over there. But now that you've reminded me, fuck RothFans. Elvis is a mod and he joined three fucking months after I did. Now the cocksucker doesn't even post there. RothFans is sucking air, getting ready for the final gasp before it dies. I was there before the beginning. I was a G.O.A.T mod. Thanx for reminding me. I'd ask them to delete my account but I really don't give a fuck if they do or don't.
I have zero interest in anyone who has the last name Van Halen. Those guys are just lame and to be honest, Dave's turning lame hanging around them. I couldn't agree more, Dave is ready to go and they take a half decade at least to do anything. Lot's of great musicians who would love to write some music and go on tour with Dave.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!
Some of y'all are yearning for a different time zone. Where the " rock stars " roll into town on a VH painted lear jet and stumble out of it at the airport with a huge cloud of freebase smoke and a bakers dozen of hot slutty groupies wiping DLR's cum off their face as they stumble their way down the airplane stairs to a huge crowd of fans, groupies, and press photographers clamouring to catch a glimpse of the big time rightreous bad ass rock stars who just rolled into town with 675 tons of Marshall Stacks, lights, and staging to blow the balls off off every motherfucker within the immediate radius of the local sports arena.
Yeah, I used to smoke crack too. Back then it was called freebase, and we cooked it ourselves, with cocaïne and baking soda. Super easy to score hot promiscuous sluts when you got blow. The trick was to get your action before giving them too much. Those days are long gone. Long, long, long, long, fucking gone.
VH is square to some of you now. Why, because Daves haïr aint long and Eddie doesnt smoke or drink. Alex is a preachet. Wolfie is clean cut.
Even if Michael Anthony came back, it wouldnt make any difference to some of you. Once you get what you want, you no longer want it, and bitch like the bitches you are. That is your perogitive. I'll take my VH any way I can get it so long as DLR is in it, after 23 fucking years of waiting.
ADKOT
I can see both sides. Van Halen with Roth is the only VH worth caring about but new music is a must. If there is no music on the horizon i would love to pass the time away with some Roth solo music. When the 90's came around and things changed for the worse, it wasn't VH that helped me ride it out...it was solo Roth. Hell, from 86 to DLR band you could count on Dave to put something out every 2 or 3 years so you had something to look forward to. At this point in time it is anyone's guess when we will hear a new musical composition with Dave on vocals. I don't like that uncertainty at all.
RIDE TO LIVE, LIVE TO RIDE
LET `EM ROLL ONE MORE TIME
It makes no sense why he can't do both solo and VH. It never has and it never will. What would the harm be in atleast letting the guy release the Over The Rainbow Bar & Grill CD? I'm not expecting to see a tour behind it. Just want some new damn music to listen to is all. Red Bull & Pop tarts!!
What competition ?? You release an album every 25 years your gonna have to get used to the fact there is other music out there .
If ed the shred wants to take on the competition he needs to release something ..... Shit or get off the pot
fuck your fucking framing
This could be a good backing band for Dave solo...
Fuck ..... They ain't shit .
I don't understand the politics of all this bullshit, and I was too busy talking about the music, to get into that part of it. It's crazy though. Ray is releasing the KXM album in March, but he can't release the album with JD. Maybe it's record deal bullshit. Label politics.
It's all bullshit and both the fans and the musicians get the shaft. I'm sure J5 wants to get it out there - he's been very enthusiastic about the project in anything that I've read.. You know Dave would love to tour behind it and you know the fans will be behind it. So what's the fucking problem over here??
Evh ??
Kinda makes me wonder if the line, "suppose you wait forever then you change your miiinnd?!" was written around the time Dave signed his freedom over to Ed. I still think he's where he belongs. I just can't believe how unhungry and slow VH have remained. Fatso taught them that trait. He bragged about slowing down their engines. Now, unfortunately, we have interviews with Dave rationalizing why things are spaced and move slow. It's almost like he's caught in a web. He can't trash talk'em (though, he has a little) and he can't light a fire under their Dutch asses.
You may be on to something here with this. Sadly. I get the impression EVH may not fully appreciate DLR and the CVH material as enthusiastically as Dave and most of the fans. Remember his comment about the lyrics to " CGTSNM ", he mentioned Dave never said what the stuff is or why you can't get it anymore. Could he really be that oblivious.
Or, it could be that EVH is a marketing genious beyond eveyones perception. In the sense of by withholding all old live performance footage and unreleased material, this perpetuates an instiable appetite that keeps the fans hungry and always wanting more.
Thanks a bunch for sharing this experience, Von. Way cool that you got to meet John...he seems to be a regular cat. Whether on his own, or collaborating with another, I consider him not only a great guitarist, but a fine writer/riffmeister as well.
The last time I saw Zombie was when he opened for Ozzy in '01. 5 was still with Manson. Is Ray filling in? I thought Ginger Fish was named Zombie's drummer, though, no one seems to be a permanent member of Rob's band...
Speaking of folks who do what they want when the band they're is named them, I know it was Dave's idea, as VH does indeed have a ring to it, and that in turn gave birth to the most bad-ass of band logos, but I suppose the dubbing gave Ed, (and Al), a unique upper hand...he's got credited and uncredited work on several tunes, for several artists/producers, dating back several years.
It's unfortunate that the Van Halens feel the need to put restrictions on their (ex) employees. Especially when it is something that they had no part in creating.
I myself wouldn't think Ed all that wise when it comes to merchandise. Maybe for those fans who play guitar, but not for all Van Halen fans.
The best in that category would be the two books of photographs released by Zloz in the last decade. Other than that, there is nothing of any substance from the Roth Era that bears mention.
It sucks, because everyone loses there.
Ed and Al should consider that their fanbase is dying. Literally. At least, the part of their fan base that would still pay cash for any and all audio/video/photo and/or text released from their vaults.
I would venture a guess that Dave may have brought up some form of retrospective in one conversation or another.
The 30th anniversary of the final album in the six-pack draweth ever closer, yet not a one of these fine albums has received the "Deluxe" treatment.
Perhaps that is on Warner Bros., do they still exist? I wonder who owns what at this point?
However you slice it, the legacy of Van Halen is in a truly sorry state.
Ultimately, this must be a real disappointment for John 5, as essentially, one of the main influences for his wanting to play guitar is preventing him from releasing something he created.
That's pretty shitty...
Korn has a great new single out called "Never". It's damned good and very catchy. YOu can hear a little of that intricate Ray drumming in the middle.
Oh dear.
Well, since Sesh posted the story with John 5 talking about this album, I figured I'd bump the thread I started almost a year ago. Fuck, time flies.
I just saw Ray a few weeks ago, and he again talked about this music with John 5 and Dave. He was really impressed with it. He said he would have loved to have been a part of it.
Fuck. Wish he could release it, dammit!
Well, I spoke to John 5 last night.
Before I get to the one burning question I once again asked him, let me talk a little about John's show last night. Man, can that motherfucker rip on a guitar. I've seen him with Manson and with Zombie, but I've never seen him solo. It was him, a bass player and a drummer. All instrumentals. This show was at a very old bar called The Token Lounge. This was a homecoming of sorts for John, as he's from Grosse Pointe, and went to Grosse Pointe South High School. He specifically wanted to play this place, because he played there when was "13 or 14 years old". He did a bunch of his solo tunes. He did a ripping version of "Beat It", because that's the song he did at his High School talent show. He ended the night by ripping into one great guitar riff after another. He started that medley with "Somebody Get Me a Doctor", then played one recognizable riff after another, for about 10 minutes. It was nothing short of phenomenal. If this guy comes to a venue near you, I'd highly recommend you going to see him, if you like instrumental guitar rock. There are no vocals, unless you are lucky enough to be at a show where a guest like Mike Anthony shows up. This show was recorded and will be released as a live album and DVD.
Now, the million dollar question.
Me: "Why can't you guys release the album?"
John 5: (With a big grin on his face) "He's in Van Halen".
Me: "What's that got to do with it?"
John 5: Throwing his hands out, palms up, and still grinning, "He's in Van Halen".
I did not press that issue any further, and cannot speculate as to what that exactly means. I can say, both times I've spoken to him about this album, he was very positive about the recordings, and how good they are. I of course wouldn't expect him to tell me (or anyone) the songs suck, but man, he lights up when talking about it. He is genuinely excited about how these songs turned out. I will choose to believe this album will one day come out. I sure hope so.
I did not get to hear any of the music, as he literally had nothing with him. All of his stuff was at his Mom's house. When we were walking out of the venue, one of his buddies picked him up in an older Ford Taurus to take him back to his Mom's house! He's a really down to earth dude, and just extremely nice.
Totally awesome, Von !!
But we knew the answer to the question already...
Shut the fuck up...
