Assume two things:
1) There is a new album
2) The new album contains one cover song
Question: What song would you want?
I'll go with Johnny Cash "Get Rhythm"

Dave is making 80 phone calls right now, to try to figure out which cover song they are going to do. Us common folk just do not realize how hard it is for him to decide on a cover song. It's a lot of work.
I don't care what they Van Halenize. Preferably something bluesy though.

Mostly so I can get this VH copycat band version out of my head for the past 25 years:

You can thank Teddy T for the Bullet Boys VH ways.
I liked those guys. Especially their version of Tom Waits' Hang On St. Christopher.

They should do Flex. That song rips.
I want to see their roots come out. Something bluesy. Cream's version of Crossroads. Cream was a huge influence on them. There is a big list of Cream songs that would be great covers, but this is my vote.

I recall hearing the audio only version and I love it! Would love to have it on an album.
Nobody can cover a song like Dave and Ed. Period.

Yeah, and all the talk of Dave handling the promotion duties. Yeah, awesome job there. A billboard in Times Square that maybe 37 people even knew to look for and knew what it meant. The building on the Strip was nice, though. Too bad that was pretty much the extent of it.
I know, I know, nobody cares how many records they sell. Whatever. This is supposed to be Van Fucking Halen! Promote, promote, promote!!
DLR Bridge (12-06-2013)
Yeah I thought they did a piss poor job of promotion.
And you know what you could see why they would , they release records every 25 years so what's to get so excited about .

He went from doing that comical audio promo he did for the tour with Kool & the Gang to standing in the woods with Rusty, proclaiming the band bit off more than they could chew. I wish he utilized his film/video talents during the past year and a half with some music videos. Tattoo and She's The Woman warranted better visual treatment.
I've said it a million times , blood and fire , Dave , old footage mixed with a bit of Picasso bros humour .

I've got a vision in my head for a kick ass As Is video treatment. It would have an ending similar to the end of the Devil's Rejects. The band blazing through the desert in a convertible, firing back at the police with the e-bow swells going. Off into the sun set like a spark on the horizon.

Well... there's always Heartbreak Hotel.....
Summertime Blues would be another good one. In fact, why wait for the new album - that should be rush released as a downloadable single off the official website in time for summer.
Cue the crickets again.
