          Ghey.

Vaughn's playing was highly derivative and thoroughly boring. Ask Robin Trower, Frank Marino or any other Hendrix-cloning buttfucker who came before him.

Vaughn would be how you spell my first name, dumbass. Stevie Ray's last name is spelled Vaughan.

So when I hit up the "show your work" thread, I'll find samples of your playing style which is derivative of no one? I mean, c'mon already.

So SRV was rooted in the Hendrixian blues. BFD. Toasted or sober, he put on one hell of a show.

Not a bad performance. 86-88 were rough years for him.

BTW, who isn't derivative? 99% of music is derivative.

                      Stevie was 100% derivative.

I used to see concerts at Alpine Valley, the place SRV died. I wasn't a big fan of his but he could play the guitar pretty damn good. I liked some of his Hendrix covers but his original stuff wasn't my cup of tea.

SRV was amazing live , yeah he didn't invent rock n roll but sure could play it .

I do believe he pushed the envelope with the bohemian ear spoon , check some of his stuff out ,well ahead of the curve .

I'd say Vaughan's playing was highly (like, REALLY highly) derivative.

But I like(d) listening to him just the same.

I would say others tend to overrate him a bit too highly for my tastes, but he played the blues so well. At least SRV played the blues fast, unlike, say, B.B. King.

Now, B.B. King is a blues player who is boring as fuck. So many say it's some kind of taboo to say anything non-complimentary about B.B. King, but his playing bores me shitless. 90% of Eric Clapton's does, too.

But I liked SRV's stuff, particularly when he was drinking heavily and using cocaine. After he sobered up, his playing got a little bit too stiff for my liking. Texas Flood and Couldn't Stand The Weather are two good albums.

                            Also, fuck Paul McCartney.

Forever I've wondered that Clapton and particularly BB King doing nothing for me was my failing or just an emperors new clothes situation.
