It's only been an "official" release for a couple years now - and that's even questionable, since you can't buy it on CD, and to own a vinyl copy you would have to sell your house. But I'll nominate it anyway.........



Previously, this was one of the most popular bootlegs of all time, of course. The Stones finally wised up and decided to cash in on it, albeit not in the usual retail channel sense.

Personally, I still prefer the bootleg version, because you can hear more of Mick Taylor on it. I really hate it when somebody decides to fuck with a "historical document" like that......

I thought about All The Worlds A Stage after. Great raw Rush ! Hell Rush was my first concert. And they do lot's of 2112 on that. Of course their best album.

I love them also. Almost all I listen too. I know there are a lot more. I went with the big 70's ones. Hell I love Aerosmith Live Bootleg a ton and didn't go with it. Or the Rush album.

My only problem with Aerosmith's is that it's culled from very different eras and tapes which makes it somewhat disjointed. Lord of the Thighs is top notch. I love playing that on drums...

If we go recent we have to include How the West Was Won, The Queens of the Stone Age live album Through the Woods, Black Sabbath Past Lives (disc 1 mostly), Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes Live at the Greek, oh we gotta throw Grateful Dead and Europe '72, Let's get dirty and throw Pink Floyd's 77 Oakland bootleg... Master of Reality Live the Viper Room (thanks binnie!) and Flak and Flight, Little Feat Waiting for Columbus... James Gang live in concert... Kiss Alive is up there right?... Soundgarden Live on I5 is decent... oh yeah Cream Live volume I and II both kick ass... My Jimi Hendrix Winterland Vinyl Box set? Priceless... Frank Zappa at the Roxy (who doesn't love Penguin in Bondage?)...

Man I fucking love live albums. And Exit Stage Left gives All the Worlds a Stage all it can handle....

I just love everything about live albums...

I love hearing the crowd... And when an album has a shitty mix that DOESN'T hear the crowd, it's make it much worse IMO....

I love the nuances that the bands throw into songs....

I love how well (or poor) the lead singer interacts with the crowd....

My son always gets on my case when we take a road trip, 'cause that's all I want to play is live albums, but that's just me....

Kristy, I just played the Daytona 500 on main street and now Bike Week. I have 20 gigs setup through the year requiring travel out of state, starting a new deal for bands and solo writers to get proper and coordinated management, fishing off Jamaica, fishing off Belize, fishing off Puerto Vallarta, Rockfest in Cadott WI, Indy 500, F1 in Austin and Canada, NASCAR in Homestead, St Pete Grand Prix, Season tix to cage club Tampa Bay Storm, purchased 10 game package for Rays baseball, and plenty of Clearwater Beach and au` natural beaches in between.

I couldn't have done a year like this at 25, 30, or 35. Pretty damn good for 51.

FYI-- you're middle aged at 35-40 years old. The stats don't move that much to accommodate people that pass after 90 or before 30.

My only complaint about that album is that DeeDee's bass is way too low in the mix. Other than that, it's a great listen. Though the King Biscuit release "NYC 1978" might actually be a little better, in that respect....

Yeah, not an original list, but they're classics for a reason.

I'd also add Slayer - Decade of Decadence to the list. That album fuckin' rules.

But the 'Greatest' live album? Mmmmm..........I'd go with Deep Purple - Made In Japan. Why the 'Greatest'? Because it captures the essence of the band on the very edge of what they can do.

IMO - One of the challenges of this discussion thread is not to include boots. For example: KISS Reunion tour 1996 San Jose show is one their best ever but never released as a Live album.

I like the BOC live album a lot but I can't remember the title.

Love my Firm c.d. from Canada 1986. Page is back from his drug hazed playing. And Zeppelin M.S.G. New York 1977. Four Blocks In The Snow. Killer soundboard and playing. Boot DVD ? VH Baltimore 08. Ed was out of rehab and Dave was killing it. Great filmed show.
